Raptor 1000 for sale - £1950

My friend has been looking after this for me for the last few years as I've moved to Germany but he's about to get stationed out in the middle east for a few years so it's sadly time to part with the best motorcycle I've ever owned. 2000 model 31k, showing no signs of stopping GPR Exhausts (sound am...

Re: Chassis Number Location?

Thanks very much for the pics bazzywazz. Here's a photo of mine, as you can see its entirely blank. https://goo.gl/photos/Jka2wcVkuM6ZNiV1A There is a tiny mark at the top where those wires have rubbed over the years but I can't see any hint of filing or scratches whatsoever! I'm not entirely convin...

Re: Chassis Number Location?

After a lot of back and forth with MV today it looks like they are genuinely missing from the bike! Quite a shock. No idea what I can do from here, I think even trying to sell the bike back in the UK will be problematic if the serials are missing? Anyone had this issue before?

Chassis Number Location?

Nobody can find the chassis number on my bike and as a result I'm screwed while currently trying to import it into Germany. Anyone know where it is? The manual states its on one of the rails coming from the neck tube but I can't see anything there! There's a smaller number on the neck tube itself (s...

Re: Is my bike too old?

Wise words. I'm keen to learn but not having a garage is an issue for me right now. I can do the easy stuff like oil changes and air filter, spark plugs etc. Just learned to strip and rebuild brake calipers so that's another one to add. Engine internals are a scary subject though. Did the tappets on...

Re: Suggestions for perished seals on fuel pump housing

Aw my mechanic is getting bashed on here but he's a sweetheart, hes taking the project over to do in his spare time now as he doesn't want to run me up a massive bill in the workshop. He's confident he can do the work but I just wanted to check that there might be a quicker/easier method than him fa...

Re: Is my bike too old?

Hah, thanks for the encouragement. I love my bike and it certainly doesn't LOOK 15 years old, I think they have a timeless design. Glad to hear of bikes making it around that many miles! My only worry is spare parts and fixing the inevitable issues that arise! Water in the fuel tank has been my prob...

Suggestions for perished seals on fuel pump housing

So upon stripping and rebuilding the fuel pump, the wires that go through from the pump to the outside world have rubbers which stop the fuel escaping and keep the contacts away from the metal of the housing. These have perished, and the connectors have corroded a great deal. My mechanic is having t...

Is my bike too old?

After having numerous problems with my bike (fuel pump, fuel filter, rust + perished rubbers causing fuel to piss everywhere) my mechanic did say to me today "Well this IS what you get when you have a 15 year old bike" and began talking as if it was over the hill. So I ask you guys, is a 1...

Re: Rear Brake overheated n died?

Bum. Cheers for the advice. Will drain it off tonight and see how I go. Fingers crossed the MC hasn't gone :(
Anyone know the size for the seals? Only place I can see on ebay want dimensions. Don't have a set of calipers handy!
Gutted to be missing all this gorgeous weather too!

Re: Rear Brake overheated n died?

So today I used a C-clamp to shove it back in and that seems to have free'd it up. Guessing its corrosion on the inside? Wanted to change the brake fluids but I guess I should rebuild the caliper before I bother. Anyone got any advice on how to go about this? :) Brake pad was pretty shagged so have ...

Re: Rear Brake overheated n died?

OK took the brake pads out and noticed that when pumping the brakes only one of the pistons really moved. So what do I do now? Is it ok to drain the brake system to take the caliper apart? I thought you always had to make sure no air got in!

Re: Clutch cable snapped, where can I get one? :(

Just to revisit this. Sadly the old document numbers didn't help as they didn't have any on file.
Sent them the old clutch cable, they fixed it up and sent it back super quick. Was pretty cheap too! Would recommend them :)

Rear Brake overheated n died?

Hey all, Backed the bike out of the garage the other day and heard the back brake was binding a little but didn't really think much of it. Went out for a 40 minute blast and by the end found that the rear pedal didn't work at all. No pressure on the pedal just total travel. Remember thinking my foot...
