Re: head stock

What Raptor is this? When you refer to pinch bolts, I'm assuming you are talking about the yokes (or triple clamps). I don't get the term 'sliders' either. If I understand you correctly, the yokes are not that bad. I would not be bothered about swapping mine. Where are these copper shims? I have no ...

Re: Bleeding Back Brake ... tech tips from Aprilaforum.com

If I remember rightly, I couldn't bleed the back brake at all until I sat it on the seat of the bike, when it went a treat.
I must have tried this in desperation but it worked.

Re: Original Chain WARNING

Hurray! Something about my Raptor has done better than everybody else's. It is still lovely with no serious sprocket wear, but I'm getting a new x-ring chain with the Dymag carbon wheels and alloy rear sprocket. I thought that it made no sense to get lovely light wheels and keep the old heavy chain ...

The Hairy One Returns Again...Oh Dear.

Hi to all of you lovely peoples at the Chapter. Yes, it's unfortunately true that Hairy Mark will not go away forever. I hope you are all fine and thriving. I have not been entirely idle since I last visited, even if it sometimes took time lapse photography to detect any signs of life. I had one of ...

I apologise

Yes, I do So what for? A number of things, but all of them are explained by one curse. That is called depression. It is little understood, but causes all manner of unexplained reactions. It is why I don't appear on the site for a while. It is why I sometimes don't reply to questions. It is why, when...

Evanescent yet thunderous

Lo. from the wilderness he returns yet again. Like a varuca you thought had gone away, or like a curry that by mid-morning had not crucified your posterior region, yet still managed to cause severe rectal pain by noon, I return in all triumph! (Cagiva actually, don't be confused by the apparent refe...

Re: E-Book published by biker...heaven help us!

Hmmmm.... Not sure, since ther have been few replies. You see, part way through writing Summoning Empire, I watched a documentary about Hiroshima and Nagasaki that stunned me. I felt that I had to protest somehow. So I wrote it into the book. Gyllian Thorne is not a good man, but he's mixed up. He d...

Re: E-Book published by biker...heaven help us!

There is a time that all of us have to be honest and realise that our dishonesty does not just harm others but prevents us from being who we want to be. No quote, just my opinion. Buddha apparently once said : Thousands of candles can be lit from a single flame And its life will not be shortened. Li...

E-Book published by biker...heaven help us!

Hi, the mad one's back. I thought I might let you all know that I've published a book on Amazon Kindle. Sci-Fi, what else? If you know me, you'll realise that it ain't regular sci-fi. It contains my own blend of engineering, psychology and humour. I've got the go-ahead to tell you about it from the ...

Flower arranging for bikers

Following my recent and somewhat controversial post, I decided to make ammends by discussing this thorny problem. How does one combine the delicate art of flower arranging with the gritty world of motorcycling? For myself, it's simple. There's nothing more butch and macho than a pansy. I like to att...

Re: Embarrassing * adventures.

Crikey! I thought my post was riske, but polite, no rude words etc. I didn't realise what a problem it might cause. Apologies to everyone concerned. Snap, what's this about Spam Joiners? You know, I get sick of people who just try to mess up everybody else's enjoyment. They're a plague, like those w...

Re: Spring cleaning? Pollocks, Winter's where it's at!

Shebee, I've said it before and i'll say it again, houses are just not designed properly. I like the look of bar-end mirrors, but can't fit them 'cause the kitchen door isn't wide enough to get the Raptor in with them on. I think i'll go into architecture and design proper motorbike friendly houses ...

Re: PAIR removal works ! Thank you.

Surprised that you got back-firing with it on! You can't have standard cans. What cans have you got? The pair system burns unburnt fuel in the exhaust, cos the engines are run rich to meet noise emissions. With it working, secondary detonations can occur in the exhaust system, but standard cans with...

Re: Spring cleaning? Pollocks, Winter's where it's at!

Dizzy, I am but a simple and very hairy Northern peasant, yet even I detect sexual undertones in the proposed remedy. Just in case I am mistaken, I shall forthwith administer Solvol Autosol to the wedding tackle and Johnson's Baby Oil to the exhaust downpipes of my V-twin, whilst showing it a copy o...

Spring cleaning? Pollocks, Winter's where it's at!

Help! I have just gone mad cleaning the house. This is obviously a symptom of some serious malaise. Granted, the initial motivation for these draconian measures was reasonable, but for Bod's sake! The place is becoming vaguely civilized. Such a thing has not been known for many decades, perhaps sinc...
