Re: Vehicle safety switch
Hello and welcome to March!!! Whilst pulling apart the 3 cables going into the Vehicle Safety Switch, I discovered melted insulation and bare wires. My original problem started after the VSS fell onto or very close to the rear header pipe and started an overheating and melting scenario, eventually c...

Re: Vehicle safety switch
Hello All!!!! My 1000 raptor had the side stand switch disconnected prior to my purchase in 2013 and starts with only the clutch lever pulled, independent of up or down side stand, so it was probably done correctly - ie that the cable goes to ground straight from the Injection relay. Although I am g...

Re: Vehicle safety switch
Hello Shebee. Thanks mate!!! I had a lookout the MV exploded diagrams and it shows electronic part 19 having a wire from both ends and going to 20, which is off to the rear brake light. Thanks for the crap tartan link. It's great with the only thing lacking being the description of the diodes. Watta...

Vehicle safety switch
Hello all!!! My 1000 raptor is running rough down low suddenly and the neutral light stays on all the time. I found the bottom part of the vehicle safety switch melted on the bottom and black soot where the connector pins join . Does anyone have or know where I can get a replacement please. I've had...

Re: Help needed: Footrest holder
Hello!!! When my raptor fell over in the driveway, it bent the gear lever and snapped the footage mount. After much deliberation, I got a local boat repairer to weld the aluminium back together. I left the weld bulge - didn't grind it off as the welder suggested - as it adds a bit more strength. YEAH!

Re: gear change assembly
Thanks Nick.
That's almost what I did and it's fine. But.... the other time it fell over in the driveway, it bent the lever in the same way and I've got Crash knobs on the frame. So I want to prepare for the future when it's even harder to get those easily damaged bits...

new gear lever assembly
Hello All!!! My parts dealer, Peter Stevens in Melbourne Australia, has recently confirmed that they can't source a new gear lever assembly from MV in Italy as MV's policy is ( now ? ) not to keep parts for bikes over 10 years old. Mine is a 2004 Raptor 1000. I confirmed it with another dealer in a ...

Re: Fuel light advice
Howdy.... In the city, if I fill up within about 20kms of the fuel light first flashing, then I'll put in 12. something litres. I normally get about 150kms with the fuel light just starting to stay on and I still put 13. something . Best I've got in total range was 208kms in the open country sitting...

Hello Jacko! Do you warm your motor to 82 degrees ( one the display ) prior to riding the 7 miles to work, then back? When I warm mine in the garage, there is a lot of petrol coming out of the pipes unburnt. The cold map in the ECU runs the bike rich - auto choke - until the temperature sensor hits ...
