Re: The rusty work hoss.
Hurrah - some progress at least. Onwards & upwards. Most importantly, the castle nut.. but it is seized onto the thread,i am not sure if that matters? Can i just bung it back in as is or does it need to go on after the threaded part? You can just bung it back in but you're gonna loose any abilit...

Re: The rusty work hoss.
Rs, seized stuff is a right royal 'kin pain. I've always used Plusgas for seized stuff and ACF 50 is surprising good with the rusted stuff. All require patience mind, application & tap, tap, tap and leave (overnight). Daily repeat until the weekend and try after heat. Repeat for the next week. T...

Re: Front sprocket nut raptor 1000
Yep, those are the ones I've just fitted over Christmas. Sprockets are a bit plain (steel) compared to the fancy aluminium Renthals I've normally used but the chain is at least from a big name manufacturer. The free chain tool is a little fiddly but worked reasonably well. We'll have to wait for a r...

Re: Front sprocket nut raptor 1000
Ah, Lidl middle aisle mains gun for me. Nice bit a torque and for the few times I need one it'salways been just the job.I was doing exactly this +1st gear, but the 10 year old 18v Snap on gun appears to be past its best.
Just don't use it on the footrest hanger hex bolts though... don't ask

Re: Clutch adjustment
Ooo-er - I though mine was bad!! BTW the seal is an easy if finicky replacement and pretty cheap. If you do it you'd be best to replace the large retaining plate that goes around the output shaft as well. From what I remember you have to remove the alternator cover as well. I'm must admit I'm the ro...

Re: Front sprocket nut raptor 1000
Normal thread - when I've done mine I wrap a crowbar in a towel pass it through the rear wheel and lock it with the spokes/swingarm.
Quick brapp with the rattle gun and off it comes.

Very nice - eee I bet you're all excited Tommy. Not long to wait now
And if the valve arrangement is the same as on my old bevel then you better get a 0.0 feeler gauge for adjusting the closing clearances....

Re: Happy New Year!
apart from stalwarts like Andy who use their Raptors day in, day out? Same here, still commuting although I'm using excess holidays to have a few 4 day weeks and have used the car a couple of times when the weather was particularly biblical. New front discs/pads, chain/sprockets & greased &...

Re: What might have been...
had a red seat which I've not seen, and both had very in-your-face 'Raptor' logos My V-Raptor is red and is original seat was also red/black as per the photo and looked quite nice, a little 'tarts boudoir' may be, but hey-ho what we'll do for a little glamour. Unfortunately, as is the case with suc...

Re: Battery removal
I remove, what I think is the air pressure sensor that is mounted on the inside on the left had side. A small black box held by a single screw/bolt with a prong on it. That gives you a little more space to start wiggling him backwards and upwards and you'll probably find you'll also need to press th...
