Re: A new venue for next years gathering?

Looks nice! Good facilities and nearby shops/pubs etc make it a goer but cant get the price page to come up??? Its less than 20 miles shorter for me (exactly 300 miles) than East Kirkby so not much in that really. How far was east Kirkby from you southerners anyway? I am up for having another Raptor...

Re: Stutter and no smooth drive

I agree normally would look at plugs and caps but the OP said it's happening around the 3k mark and worse when cold so that's why am pretty sure it's black box territory........

Re: Stutter and no smooth drive

My engine was smooth everywhere else in the rev range but if not over 85 engine temp then it would stutter around the 3k mark, fine if you can keep your engine about that figure but if not............... Try doing everything else and go over all that has already been done but I will bet you will end...

Re: Stutter and no smooth drive

This sounds like its almost certainly the common problem on 1000 raptors.

Read the topic "TPS reset" started by me some years ago and you will eventually get to the black box fix.

Its a long read but its an easy and cheap fix and hasnt failed to sort out the same issues as you describe including me!

Re: Newbie

the black box mod is my invention and doesnt give more power but deals with the power delivery glitch around the 3k mark. Do a search its well documented on here, if you an solder then its a few quid to build the black box or for the same I can make you one plus P&P of course. For better power the b...

Re: Newbie

nothing particularly common, jap engine and electrics are fine, corrosion is the biggest issue on some especially if its been used in winter and not cared for too well. Regular servicing and cleaning will keep them tiptop! The Xtra has improved suspension but its not up there with the best but perfe...

Re: Hi, new member

Dont reckon they are original decals on the tank so would guess its been repaired/resprayed at some point.
Very low mileage on it too?
Where you buying from and what do you know of its history?

Re: Front brake pads

Cant help really as I have R1 brakes along with the R1 forks fitted.
The main reason I changed the calipers too is the standard brembo calipers are not the greatest and always felt a bit wooden even from new.

Re: Suspension work

I have a hagon unit on the back, much better than the original, 8 year old now and still looks new and works fine. Fully rebuildable and reasonable prices from hagon. On the front I have an R1 front forks with yam brakes and that is dramastically better than the originals. Early R1's had very compli...
