Raptor 1000 for sale, plus luggage and accessories

I'm selling off my original Raptor plus accessories, all on eBay until next weekend. Some may remember I had two Raptors plus these as a job lot a while back. I took advice and split them. My 2005 bike has gone to a new home and now it's time for my first love to go. :( P1060140_2.jpeg I won't go in...

Re: Raptor 1000 for sale, red, 2005 model, immaculate.

Slept on it and have dropped the price to £3400, which I feel more comfortable with (some dealer has a 2001 model with 10,000 miles listed at £3495, which sounds crazy!). Edited previous entry to suit. £3600 felt greedy, auctioning her feels too desperate. I never was any use at sales – I too easily...

Raptor 1000 for sale, red, 2005 model, immaculate.

I've taken Norrie's advice and am splitting the collection listed here previously. First up is the 2005 model, 2000 miles, never seen rain while I've owned her. Mostly dry-stored. Anyway, she's on eBay as of this evening (Friday, June 23), listed as a Classified ad at £3400 with the facility for off...

I've taken your advice, norrie. I'm eBaying the 2005 model at £3600 initially, so we'll see how that goes. Since the other Raptor is worth far less and has been my main bike anyway, maybe I'll give her another year… or more? Ho, hum. Just for completeness, I'll post a Classified here just to give th...

Thanks for the sympathy, Shebee! You know how it is in life – every now and then big reassessments come up. A time to cast away stones… To every season, etc.… https://youtu.be/nA2IYnGRYac At present I've a couple of old Triumphs as well as the Rappies. One Triumph is on eBay. It's a 1971 TR6C that I...

WITHDRAWN £5500: Raptor 1000's. 2005 showroom condition, 2000 miles; 2000, 19,000 miles; loads of extras

Time to get real! I'm coming up to 68 this month and although the spirit is willing, the flesh is weakening (hips and back, actually). I'm just not going to be using the bike(s) much so either I put both into cocoon storage come July when my insurance becomes due or sell up. Before going to all that...

Re: Abba Stand

Double check that you have it adjusted so that the stand will clear the gear change lever and rear footbrake levers BEFORE you haul the bike off the ground!

As I recall, once the stand has been used once, it is only the gear change lever clearance that has to be checked.

The General or Main Relay

A short while ago DirtyDog posted non-starting 1000 which ended up focusing on the General Relay, as it's called in the Workshop Manual, also called the Main Relay on the circuit diagram in the Owner's Manual/Handbook. It is item 44 in the circuit diagram in the handbook: http://www.raptorchapter.or...

Re: Filler cap drain hole fix

Well done, Spooky, but I'm with JimBo. I posted something about twiddling a drill to clear that nipple some years ago – with the advice that it is a good idea to stuff a rag below the drill/nipple in order to catch the drill if/when you lose your grip on the drill bit (mine dropped onto the swinging...

Re: New mirrors

Nice setup  I see you have the bagster tankcover. Does the colour match the bike or is there a small difference? The bike came with the tank cover. It matches well enough but it's not perfect – certainly not an issue for me – but I don't know if they are even available any more. Having sa...

Sacrificial zinc anode in radiator – discussion topic (?)

A few years ago I had to replace the Rappie radiator. After wasting time and money on a "fix", which leaked, I was able to obtain a new one. At the time I found out that aluminium radiators only have an expected life of 8-10 years anyway. Mine gave out on schedule. Somewhere, I also came across the ...

Re: What coolant

I changed to red, but cannot remember why. Maybe it gave less corrosion for a given period: I was obsessing about that back then. Anyway, I've been googling about something related to radiators and coolant, and it does seem essential to be using distilled water. Oops. I just used tap water (I...

Re: Non starting 1000

Update: I did not cure the problem by cleaning off the gunge around the various connectors/fuses, so maybe "the gunge" was okay. Maybe I'd better put some new gunge back. The problem is still intermittent, so it looks like I'll have to dig into it properly. I'll try sussing out 'dogs relay s...
