Re: Dry and Clear roads wished for all in 2015

Happy New Biking Year one and all.

I've almost cleared the garage to enable me to get to work on my Raptor.
Have a ZZR1400 too, but the Raptor ticks a lot of boxes still. :D

Re: Gear seal?

The previous "owner" of my Raptor dropped it significantly. I thought the damage was cosmetic, but he'd bent the gear selector shaft. Needless to say he cleaned the area up before I viewed, so I didn't spot it! This did not affect the gear change but did result in a leak around the shaft. ...

Re: My ride last night.

Chain rubbing on the swing arm (probably courtesy of the above) Not really. I've found out that this is a common problem at the raptors.my chain slider ,when I bought mine, was destroyed ,with just 7500kms on the bike. My previous Raptor didn't have this issue, and my present one doesn't now I've re...

Yellow? Is it?

Anyway, if you ride it properly the light reflected from it won't be able to catch you!

Ahhhhh the smell of old fork oil.........    Funnily enough it didn't smell too bad. But water wouldn't would it? What surprises did you find? A 650 Raptor rear suspension unit in a 1000 Raptor. Chain rubbing on the swing arm (probably courtesy of the above) An al...

My ride last night.

Discovered I'm not as sh*t a rider as I thought I was. Changed the fork oil in my Raptor and had the most enjoyable ride in terms of handling for a long time last night. When pouring the old oil out it looked and behaved like water! The previous owner left me a few other surprises so maybe it was :s...

Re: I've found

I'm happy to report it was only the aged battery that let my beloved (bike not wife!) down. Reading 12.8 idle and 13.8 active, lights on @ 5000rpm. Raptor workshop manual advises not less than 13.3 and not greater than 14.3, so how much more in the middle can you get than 13.8? :happyhappy: :happyha...

I've found

I've decided to treat the old girl (the bike not the wife) to a new battery. I've experienced rough running and sometimes a failure to even turn over. However, on doing a test with my trusty meter I've found 12.4 volts at the battery with engine off BUT, only 12.1 with the engine running at about 20...

Re: Bone Anchored Hearing Aid (BAHA)

Thanks Red, I'm sure it will be OK. The abutment is anchored in the skull behind the ear and it will be only while putting on and taking off my lid. As you say, if necessary I can modify the foam to accommodate it. I'm sure it will make a big difference to my life so this, as you indicate, is a mino...

Re: Bone Anchored Hearing Aid (BAHA)

:D :P

Thanks for the advice. I've seen my consultant and it appears there will be no problem at all.
The abutment is tiny and should cause no issues.

Only have to remember to remove the aid before donning helmet  .

"Bone", "helmet" - this sites full of smut!
