Perhaps our Oz friends can report on the Emu oil that was all the rage for creaky joints a few years ago? I never tried it cos it sounded more like snake oil!

About time too!
I mentioned that I was going to fit a booster seat on the Raptor as an experiment to gain more leg room and ease my aged hip joints. Being a thick 35mm silicone mesh, it turned out to be worryingly unstable to sit on despite the double strap fixing, although it was much more comfortable than the nar...

Looks good in the advert! I'm not sure I could make a good job of fitting one though. I'll see how my orthopaedic-looking mesh silicone pad works before deciding about a possible professional rebuild.

I attacked the seat height 2 fold, first I fitted a 3mm longer shock, then I added some waterproof 10mm foam to the seat before putting a new seat cover over it. Increasing the shock length helps relative to the ground but does not, of course, change the relationship with the footpegs. I've already...

Interesting comments Chaps. I don't think I have a running issue with eg the clutch switch as the motor is super-smooth but just has a little more urge at the bottom end than is helpful when negotiating sharp corners. On the Gran Canyon (Ducati 904 motor) it was possible to alter the cable quadrant ...

An investment maybe?
All of a sudden, the Raptors and V-Raptors on ebay uk have leapt in price! Some we've seen before here, some not, but prices circa £8000 are around. One could be a bluff cos it says it has already been sold. Another is an Xtra-Raptor, which I thought was supposed to have Ohlins suspension. The forks...

Oh, sorry, the basic 1000cc Raptor without the fancy trimmings of the V-Raptor, and that's me being very polite!

I got back out on my 1K today and it was great to indulge in the reserves of power from that motor. A big but friendly animal methinks, and I do find it helpful to balance two fingers on the front brake to reference throttle movements at slow speed. Otherwise, it can make for jerky progress! I've be...

I'd say they look very tasty in photos too. Reflective tape in flash? Makes sense.andybaggies wrote: ↑1 year ago Nice... and they do look so much better in the flesh.

Well, Sheepie Person, tell us why the progression from Cagiva Raptor via Aprilia Tuono to Cagiva Raptor again? Some (not necessarily us of course!) might assume you'd achieved nirvana with V4 power. Could it be that Aprilias seem to be made for bods with long legs, whereas Raptors fit those who are ...

Well done for completing your project but it's a pity if you don't get the pleasure of riding it, given it's been a success. I'm surprised to say I like the headlight, having always favoured the good ol' fashioned round jobbie on mine. What model of Ducati is it from, and did you need to make...

MOT time - how many miles on the clock this year
Excellent! There are some very colourful fur fabrics on offer, though I've gone for boring black. It does make me wonder what the aerodynamic effect would be with full helmet cover. After all, sound recordists working outside use fluffy covers for their mikes. It could be a whole new trend!

You dont wear ear plugs Nick? Absolutely, and proper audiologist-made ones too. Apart from protecting my ageing hearing, I'm very keen on wafting through the air in relative silence so that the ride is dream-like and I can enjoy the motor's sound, not that of the wind. After several experiments, I ...

You're all putting me to shame: my Raptors are sitting awaiting their turn as I ride the Gran Canyon to do assessment of a new Schuberth helmet and modifications thereof. I really thought the C5 helmet might be acceptibly quiet after they'd gone through several previous iterations, C3 especially. No...

I don't know if it should be congratulaions or commiserations. Those MVs certainly look sexy, but I'd expect them to be much less easy-going than a Suzi-powered Raptor and inclined to foster manic riding. Maybe that's what's missing in your life? Anyway, I'm sure we all are looking forward to a repo...
