Re: What did you do to your Raptor today
Thanks for your replies and offers of help. I'm prioritising jobs just now. Must have - New back tyre. New handlebar clamp for the brake lever. Should have - New shock absorber. Would like - Kliktronic front brake assy. New exhausts. Shiny nuts and bolts. We'll see what we acheive. The best thing th...

Re: Richard Hammonds review of the V-Raptor
Can't agree with most of what he says because I spend most of my time doing all the things he says that it's not any good for. He does seem to like the bike overall though. Also, being such a small bloke, he does make the bike look mighty good. Watching him makes me want to go buy one anyway!

Re: Intro and a round on me - Kevin ( Bolton UK )
Hi Kev. I'm not too far away (other side of Burnley) but my Rap's in bits at the moment so can't let you have a sit. My right leg is trashed and that's partly what led me to the Rap. I struggle with tall bikes but feel pretty secure on the Cagiva. Still fell over with it a couple of times though :oo...

Re: New(oldish)guy here!
Hi Tim. Glad you've anounced yourself and you've been into Raps for a bit. In an effort to clear up the clutch cable business, the Suzi TL cable will serve as an emergency repair as you now know. I sometimes pack one on longer trips as a back-up. It works but hangs down the side of the bike. I think...

Re: And they call that justice?? Thought I'd won!!!!
I suppose that you will have to use the £400 you got to seek some legal advice on this. Absolutely scandalous. It would be one thing if the officer had shown up and you had both put your cases before the beak. It would have cost you £1400 but at least you would have won the argument. When the offend...

Not exactly local for me but I still fancy the idea. I don't really make firm plans that far ahead though but will give it some thought nearer the time.

Re: What did you do to your Raptor today
I'm merrily snapping rusty bolts left right and centre as I 'dis-assemble' the rear end of my bike. Can anyone reccommend a good source of stainless fastners? Also I've broken an indicator. Anyone got a spare that they could sell me please?* *Yes I know, I know, I should fit some nice aftermarket on...

Great looking tool. Did you bin everything that couldn't be salvaged? What's the tank off?

Re: Wheels
You're not getting confused with the rather less glamourous Honds 'Comstar' wheels are you. Same sort of principle if I remember right.shedmonkey wrote:55 years agoyeah astralite i had them on a cbx550 honda with believe it or not, inboard disc brakes(what a brilliant idea that was). I liked the wheels though.

Zard are advertising their 2-1 exhausts for Ducatis at the moment. Don't know how performance is affected but they look really good.

Re: What's under your seat?
Just got room behind the battery for one of them small ratchet sets with hex keys and screwdriver bits in, and a multi tool. I've got room in my pocket for an RAC card! I did actually use the toolkit last year on the way down to the Buell day. Those who have met me will know that I'm a bit unbalance...

Re: cafe racer
I had clip-ons on a few of my past bikes - Yammy RD400, Norton Commando, Laverda Jota - and without exception I found that I was actually riding them half as fast and only half as far between stops for a leg stretch and hip-supple. It sort of felt good at times, like I was straddling an inter-contin...

Yeah, it's a real bummer when it's too sunny to get good phone pics. There was a day like that last year when I had the same problem.

Re: cafe racer
I'd love to do something similar with mine. Only problem is that I don't like race bikes and have never got on with clip-ons. However, I've been caught up with the whole caff racer thing that's going on at the moment and if I had enough money, I'd love to go in that direction with the Rap. Always wo...

Re: What did you do to your Raptor today
Finally got round to attacking mine with some spanners. I want to dismantle the back end. Got as far as the silencers. Hmmm, rusty clamp nuts proving difficult so decided to remove all the standard mudguard gubbins, but the wires arn't going to disconnect without a struggle. Decided to halt proceedi...
