Re: V Raptor in a couple of weeks
So first of all lets get a round in, real ale for me in Summer! Feel free to put one on my tab. Top man! I'll have a large scotch with lots of ice. had an affair for 5 years with a Griso which was great but was going to kill me as she was a bit of a pig in lipstick. Oo, I've always fancied one of t...

Re: The rusty work hoss.
I think it'll need a chain too! Nick, you might be right! Please tell me that orange thing up front isn't a steering damper? The very first few Darmahs came with a lowered rear subframe with shorter shocks. Combine this with overly long forks and the handling had 'unusual' characteristics. I'm assu...

Re: Greetings from Jakarta!
including the original fairing/windscreen - appreciate if anyone can provide leads as to where I might find one The raptor never came with a fairing/windscreen or are you thinking of the fancy gubbins on the front of the V-Raptor model? If so then I reckon these will be as rare as hens teeth. I rec...

Re: The rusty work hoss.
I'm still Keen on trying the stud method andy, i just dont think the threads gonna hold One thing in your favour mind is that you don't need to torque the thing right up. With the studs I smeared the port with good old exhaust gunge and used spring washers behind the (brass) nuts. Tightened it up t...

Re: New to the forum
I’ve hardly ridden the V but it has the tendency to skip the front wheel at the slightest provocation, so with a the decent power output and current weight distribution, it wouldn’t take much of a mid corner bump to upset things My slapper (fnarr, fnarr) didn't even happen on a corner :o I was just...

Re: The rusty work hoss.
That's a good shout that to be fair andy it sounds better than what I've done, but what I've done isn't blowing it just looks crap. Dunno, why I didn't think it before cus that's what I did the first time I removed the exhaust. So much better insurance against seized bolts as well. And as for bodge...

Re: The rusty work hoss.
Had a good idea when I woke up this morning... just use a threaded stud. Araldite/JB weld it into the head and use a brass nut to tighten the clamp.
But it seems you beat me to the bodge!

Re: The rusty work hoss.
I'm unsure weather I had a vac pipe coming off the air pressure sensor under the seat though, anyone? There is no pipe is on mine - and just to confirm you're talking about the sensor on the left hand side above the battery in the tool space held by one screw/bolt? Oh rs indeed... :( When you say t...

Re: New to the forum
I've not noticed any tendency to wobble in 'normal' riding On the V Raptor I had a full blown uncontrollable tank slapper that spat me off and broke my collarbone. I was just bimbling along short shifting when I hit a bump.... It was subsequently noticed the previous owner (ex-demo) had tur...

Yep, happened to me also and was caused by winter crud in the master cylinder.

Re: A better shock for a 650ie?
Abba do a kit that fits onto its basic stand that allows the front wheel to be raised off the ground. It involves pulling the rear of the bike down and I've accomplished this be using a bar inserted into the rear axle. Again, it's proved invaluable. Re: A better shock for a 650ie?
Yeah, I often wonder if after market shocks use firmer springs as a protection against a user boinging into a ditch when pressing on. No doubt its probably also cheaper for them to have one spring for all/many applications Hopefully you should have enough damping adjustment to counter the softer spr...

And, of course, it'd be wise to check any of the connectors/harness/wires on the above path.
