Why do you need a seat cowl for the M.O.T ??

I have rearsets and no rear pegs but it makes no odds for the test. My bike hasn't had a seat cowl on for years.

Is someone pulling your plonker about this or what? :suspect:

Go to another MOT place. They all interpret the rules in their own way. My DRz has pillion seat and no pegs and this has never been mentioned and It's been to 2 different stations at least.

The full rules for MOT are available online somewhere if you are interested.

"Pillion foot rests are not required on motor bicycles that only have a single seat. In addition some motor bicycles used on or after 14 June 1993, which are intended to carry a passenger may not be fitted with footrests but with hand holds attached to the motor bicycles frame adjacent to, or part of the seat. Refer to manufacturers information eg owners handbook".
from the MOT testing manual.
If its got a seat it needs footrests unless the owners handbook shows that it was not fitted with footrests.
In other words if it has a seat provided for a pillion it should have footrests.
My interpretation is that if it has a pillion seat it needs footrests unless the manufacturer states otherwise. No pillion seat means no pillion footrests required. There is no definition of pillion seat in the manual. :ride:
