This weekend I’ve mostly being doing odds & sods.

After interminable dithering on my part I’ve finally mounted an old g-shock watch on top of the black box above the ignition switch.

Again finally got round to knocking up a radiator guard from a sheet of mesh bought from R&G. Zip tied on with a couple of clips and a vertical wire strut for a little added strength and prevent it from being pushed against the finning.

Fitted tubing to the carbs to allow for easy fitting of vacuum gauges when I set about buggering up their balance…. Rear carb has a spare pipe, the lower of the two tubes in the middle right of the photo & the front required a tube to be t’eed into which can be seen middle leftish.

As usual with me the aesthetics seem to get lost in the translation. Hey ho.

A couple of shelf pegs made good tube plugs and malice aforethought of red for rear.

Hubba hubba sexy seat,!!!!
I know Top Selerie put them on eBay but there's none on there for the Raptor. Mega bucks for the ZZR14.
Diggers seats do practically identical for half the price

£240 - but bear in mind I'm on the bike for 1 1/2 hrs a day. I ordered it with a gel insert and for the first couple of days I thought well this is a waste of money. I was probably expecting a DFS like sink in comfort and it felt a little hard & flat. But a week or so later the old girl asked how the saddle was performing which made me realise I hadn't even givne it a second thought. And its got better & better - it's just never uncomfortable if you know what I mean.

I doubt there would be any on ebay as they wouldn't have any seat bases and from what I have read on 't web their own bases aren't much cop. I sent my base to them and used a tatty old spare for the 3 weeks or so it took to recover. BTW if anyone wants a spare seat, held together with masking tape and definitely in need of a recover, then just shout. Postage cost only.

Oh dear, more money spent. This time on a.... shock from Wilbers.

I've been thinking about replacing the rear shock for months now as the original pretty much doesn't have any damping left. After way to much deliberation I finally went for the Wilbers 640 which has a spring & valving set for my weight and only provides rebound adjustment.

Fitting this weekend.

Shock length is the same as the original, see photo, and after a hassle free fitting the first noticeable difference was when knocking him off the stand. Gone was the old phumpf & collapse at the rear which has equated to something around a 10 mm increase in rear ride height.

Previously I could push the rear down a fair bit and although it would rebound it was all a little saggy. Now I need to really push to see less movement with an instant rebound. Ride impressions will have to wait until Monday and i'll be interested to find out how the front reacts to the change.

any idea how much it would be to post the seat all the way to Australia (Perth) as trying to locate one at the moment alternatively I could get it sent to my old man in Pontefract, Yorkshire if its still available?

Xavz,

Yep it's still available & a quick check shows (recorded) postage to Oz would be around £120 & obviously much less to Yorkshire at around £20. Use these as guidance rather than actual values mind.

Will try to post a photo later tonight.

A couple of photos of the seat - there is no passenger grab strap and the splits either side where caused by me having to replace the captive bolts (with stainless) for the seat to frame bracket on the underside.
