Clutch diagnosis? ??

Post by Dapper dan »

So..This is the story...I took my xtra rap out for a quick shake down prior to taking it to an MOT on Monday :naughty: and the clutch was slipping for a few seconds and then locks up nicely

The bike has been stood for approx 18months and this is its first time it's been run.
It's covered only 8k mlies since new....so think it's a bit early for a new clutch....but don't know what the previous owners were like.....anybody got any tips /knowledge? :bollocking:

since the machine has been sitting so long I wouldn't worry about it too much unless it happens again.

one thing i would do is lube the clutch cable, it may be sticking. check to be sure you have a little free play in the adjustment of the levere too..

I use a semi synthetic ,the recommended 10/40 mineral but i wouldn't go with a full synthetic with these clutches as i remember there being issues as discussed on other forums with full synthetic. imho
