Hi..new member!

Post by Dapper dan »

Would just like to say Hi and thanks for adding me as a member!

I'm now onto my second raptor...first one was a V I bought about ten years ago...silver tank with under seat carbon cans..then the wife got pregnant😨😯😐😄
I've just managed to get my hands on a x-raptor😀 so will be looking for a few bits and bobs..I. e. Handle bars for starters.
If anyone has any history to offer on x raptor 191/999 I'd be interested.

Dapper Dan!

Hi and welcome in!

Love the xtra raptor! Get some pics up and lets see what you got.

Did you buy it from someone who frequents this place?

The original type handlebars are pretty rare and hard to find in decent nick (same as the V) but many others will fit, the horns are the biggest embuggerance!!!

I grabbed it on ebay from a salvage yard....so really interested in its past, and if it was anyone's previous pride and joy!
Probably might of been bidding against a few chaps on here as an xtra raptor are seriously thin on the ground...just waiting for it to be delivered by courier!

So is it running and everything working ok?

What sort of cosmetic condition is it?

Depending what you paid could be a real bargain or if its missing any bits or needing things replaced then it could get rather expensive or worse still, pretty impossible!

Keep us posted and will keep fingers crossed its the former...................... :revrev:  :happyhappy:

Hopefully the photos will upload...This isn't my latest, it's the one I had to sell...which I really regret.
I loved the swept up cans...and sounded beautiful....I'd like to perhaps do this to my xtra...but not sure as I think I'd like to keep it 100% standard.....but saying that I could always keep the original exhausts wrapped up safe in the workshop!
I was wondering if v-strom exhaust link pipes were a cheap way of doing this????

As far as the xtra raptor...I think I've located the parts I need...One bit is in Australia...handle bars......the rear carbon side seat panels are in the USA....eekk !

Hi, nice vrap, i like the high pipes especially the way the cans go past the rear tail light. Makes the bike look a bit more proportionate? I got my system in pieces from italy,it was basically junk so opened up the cans, remodelled and welded the link pipes ,made new brackets etc its rock solid ,but i wouldn't mind changing the cans one day. I see you had the air removed on the vrap, best mod one can do imho. Good luck with the xrap, those stock cans weigh a ton. I like the polished rims, i finished the other side although cant see it in the pic but looks much better, will eventually get it done one day hopefully  Image

Hi Ozz,

I posted a separate query about the effect of removing the P-air system, but it seems to have died a death! So what was your experience of doing it that makes it the 'best mod'?

Cheers,

Disregarding Dan's embarassing gaff (who knew?), I must say this is the only biking website I know where there are actual ladies involved in any significant numbers. Brilliant! I've always thought that one doesn't need testicles (pardon me) to appreciate mechanical elegance and dynamic movement. And we are talking proper bikes too!

Very glad to be here... :happyhappy:
