Hand Protectors..?

Post by HiFi »

Hiya, cold winter seems to have arrived, my hands get frozen after about half an hour :cold:
Anyone ever sucessfully fitted hand protectors to their V-rap? Plently of nice looking ones on eBay but I'm a bit nervous of ordering and then finding they don't fit.
Something like this maybe:

The bars on the V-rap are quite "busy" with cables and stuff, quite narrow so there's not much room for accessories, plus they might hit the beaky fairing - any recommendations please?

I used to ride in the winter but I just don't get any joy out of it now. I have heated grips and years ago bought heated gloves so that's an option.
Regarding the hand guards I reckon they would fit but if not you could always return them.

yup it's something I'd have liked as after riding the Pegaso I realise you can ride near through the winter with summer gloves on.
The only ones I've seen on and fitted were attached at the end of the handlebar tube not in the 'busy' bit, and so required the original bar ends to be removed.

I had hand protectors fitted to mine for a while.
They worked fine but being the tart I am they were removed when i changed the look of some other things and I missed my bar end mirrors!
They were the bar end type with lights fitted and worked pretty good at deflecting the wind off your hands but mine was naked ish at the time so not sure how they would fare with the horns/beak and standard bars......

Pics of them fitted in this thread

heated grips on mine, and water/windproof gloves (though the heat from the grips gets through better with summer gloves) I don't switch the heat on very often as they do trick you into feeling you're warm enough and then your core gets too chilled.
yada yadda technical cold chill stuff, Inst of Nav Med state that mittens are more protective than gloves, so a pair of wind/waterproof mittens over warm gloves should make a big difference

+1 on the mittens deffo warmer than gloves . I think i did see some swedish army ones with trigger finger seperate good for light brake use. But mittens are bulky and take a bit of getting used to.
I was bought some handlebar muffs a couple of years ago but havnt been brave enough to fit them yet. I think the horns would be restrictive on hand guards.

The two finger gloves are a good compromise on the mittens, Boss recommends them! when i used to ride the ariel to work in the snow i ran with silk liners, winter gloves and belstaff waterproof overmits but this was in the days before thinsulate was invented and before bikes had enough sparks to run heated grips!
