raptor 1000 for sale

Post by geoff » Fri Sep 16, 2016 7:39 am

Having spent a lot of money getting this bike into nice condition, I'm forced to sell it due to having no room for it where I live.

It's a 2002.
carbon fibre body panels and front mudguard.
leather seat cover in black and white.
yam r1 front forks and calipers, with new original pads.
spare adjustable shock, not fitted as I'm happy with the original.
new water pump seals and gaskets, proffesionaly fitted.
oil and filter change.
valve clearances all good, again proffesionaly checked.
new tyres, well, 300 miles old.
19000 miles, handbook, one key, and a box of bits and bobs, cables, spare ecu, etc.
This bike rides very nicely,as it ought to with the work I have done to it, on standard exhaust etc.
I will take £2000 for it and no haggling, it's worth that and more imo, so please don't try making offers anyone.
I really have got this bike fresh and ready to just enjoy, and I'm reluctant to sell it, but needs must...

I'm in Essex, and want a good home for a lovely old bike, picture to follow.

Post here or pm me, I will get back as I pop in every day.

Thanks for reading, and I hope someone here takes the bike rather than selling it elsewhere. :)

The bike is in red, and I have pictures of it on the forum if you look in my posts, sorry to be a pain.

Hi Geoff,

Sorry to hear you must lose your P&J. Having come late to Raptors, though not Cagivas, and being fairly local in Norfolk, I'd like to see pics of your bike when you are able to send them.

Cheers,

Nick

Hello Nick,

It does pain me to sell the bike, I genuinely love it, but have just bought a ktm superduke, and room to house the bikes is very limited.
I will get some pics up asap.

I fitted the front end about 200 miles ago!
The fork oil is new, as is the wheel spindle, bearings, brake pads are top quality, with new braided hoses, new yamaha seals through in the calipers. :)

Mmmmm, nice! My silver Raptor is very tasteful but red is a proper colour for an Italian bike and makes yours look even more like a better-styled Monster with a prettier motor.

Couple of questions: I take it that the OS silencer is not long for this world? Where did you get the hugger and is it a Raptor-designated part. You mentioned a custom seat that doesn't appear in your pics. And finally; was the effort of fitting the R1 forks worthwhile? I'm always a bit suspicious of bikes which have done very few miles after a major upgrade!

Nick (wondering if a second Raptor is a good idea....)

Hi Nick,
the hugger was on the bike when I bought it, I have removed it as it was scruffy, and the bike looks cleaner without it.
The os exhaust has a stain on it from, I presume , some paniers, it will polish out as it is just a surface blemish, the exhausts are good other than that.
I still have the brembo calipers, but the yam blue spots that are fitted are way better imo, and look good. The forks do make for a nicer ride, having full adjustment, and better spring rate and damping on stock settings, as I found the standard forks over damped and under sprung, with little adjustment options.
admittedly the brakes will feel more responsive as they have braided lines, and have been treated to new seals and pads.
The bike has a few small blemishes, but is all mechanical fresh, and rides very well, oh, and the seat is a stock one with a leather red and black cover fitted, purely for cosmetic reasons. :)

Horribly tempting! Get the Autosol out and polish that silencer and prove what you say! From the pics, it looks like the stainless is burning through....

Be tempted.. :D ..you sound like the sort of person that should own the bike, no solvol, but gentle toothpaste and a cloth on the dremel for a minute, needs a good all over polish, but it shows the stain gone!

Good to hear that the blemish has gone.

I agree: I'm exactly the sort of person who should own your Raptor but I've already got a very original low-mileage one to play with! This w/e saw the fitment of a pristine Tuono shock that I've yet to test-ride. Also in the garage are another ten bikes: Cagivas, Ducatis and a variety of interesting Japanese, so I really don't need duplicates. Hopefully others have been watching this thread and will jump in to give your Raptor a good home! I guess beauty is in the eye of someone, but I don't think I could ever fancy an orange origami KTM. Just sayin...

Good luck,

Nick, in Norfolk
