I did it...yesterday I removed the PAIR valve system and would like to advise anyone thinking of doing this to break open the tools this weekend and get it done.
I use my V Raptor daily covering 80 miles to work and back and can say without hesitation that the bike is smoother more responsive sounds sweeter and is generally easier to ride in traffic.
Previously , though a great engine, I found that the Raptor would be spluttery jerky and hesitant at low engine speeds this has now changed dramatically.
Total mods to date (With thanks to this site and it's resident experts) include:
Airbox mod (TL Monkey)
K&N Filter
Clutch switch Modified (Wrecker) this helps with cleaner pulling a way at speed.
PAIR Valve in the bin
Motad Venom cans with Carbon can co DB Killers
PC3 on the way (currently landing at heathrow)
Cheers Si
By the way what tyres do you advise for the V Raptor? I'm running bridgestone batalax at the moment and losing confidence in the front...suggetstions?
Recently removed PAIR valve thanks everyone

Hi no probs
The pair valve is a gizmo that suzuki install with this engine and sv engines to divert exhaust gases back into the airbox as well as alter fueling due to the need to reduce emissions.
If you look under your exhaust port there is a black or chrome pipe exiting just under the exhaust header and looping round the right hand side of the engine. Follow this up into the frame and you'll find it.
Cheers Si
No doubt someone more technical will pull me up on the explanation though one thing I do know is that it is better off in the bin.

pair FUNCTION
Hi SI, well done, I took mine off this year and I much prefer the looks without it , cant say it made any difference to the 650 running though, was sweet and smooth anyway.
The PAIR /works arsey / facey from your description,
AFAIK it bleeds air from the airbox into the exhaust when the throttle is closed and the engine is on the overunn, allowing unburnt fuel from the incomplete combustion to burn off in the hot pipe, giving pops and bangs on the overrun, reduces Hydrocarbon emmissions.
The v/v is opened by a high vac signal from the inlet manifold to the diaphragm and is one way via a reed to prevent exhaust gases entering the air box.
Cheers

Stay calm.
Nice one thanks for that. What is your suspension set up in terms are you running standard forks and shocks? I'm considering fitting GSXR K3> forks and a fully adjustabkle shock during the winter lay up. What do you reckon good idea or not?

I have fitted Hagon progressive springs in the front with 5ml more oil and a Nitron rear shock with preload, damping and ride height adjustments.
Front feels great but rear needs setting up.
Damping is a bit too hard and spring rate too soft at the moment.
Just waiting for a decent dry day at a weekend so I can play
