Anyone fitted Duc 748 forks to the Raptor?

Post by philattersall »

Anyone fitted Ducati 748 forks to their Raptor?
Ideas over the size differences, and mod's maybe needed etc?

Thanks

hi

I guess 748 forks are probably not a straight fit, I've been looking around for some forks too and here's some things I found out:
916,996,998: dia too big well 53 mm top to bottom if I remember correctly probably too short too (SAME AS 748??)
Duc monster :about 4 cm too short but same diameter (50/54 mm)
aprilia rsv : dia too big (53 and too long?)
hayabusa fits
gsxr 1000 fits
R1 fits
fireblade 1000 fits (80% sure :? )

so I think going for r1 or gsxr will be an easier swap

Cheers

This thread talks of 748 forks -- only problem is it was for sale so there wasn't a lot of long term information about how they performed :?

Front Forks Question?

Post by Bazza »

Hi Cavia, I'm also very interested in replacing my forks with GSXr1000.
What year GSXr are we talking, and would it be a pretty easy swap, I would assume that you would have to replace the front brakes and mudguard to match GSXr right?

Well I did look at them but didn't buy any gsxr forks (yet) 8)
from what I've seen all the 1000 gsxr forks have the same dimensions, the "normal" and the radial caliper types
you would have to change the brake setup, using the gsxr or cagiva calipers (good excuse to switch to 320 discs mhhh... )
and make some brackets for the fender
But it doesn't look to bad overall

cheers

hmmm  Yeh Fully adjustable with 320 wavy discs and sexy gold finnish does sound very tempting. I'm in no rush to do it just yet. Definately a future project for this year. I'll start looking into it.

Please keep me in the loop if you get any further down this road as you shure know your stuff 8)

Thanks again for your advice! :)
