engine temperature
my raptor 1000 rarely gets up to the `magic` 82 degrees on short journeys. does anyone know of a way to override the sensor so that the bike will run more cleanly before it gets up to temperature?

Re: engine temperature
I just warm the bike up to about 60degrees before riding - and then keep the revs out of the 'jerky' 3000 zone while she warms up properly (usually by staying in 2nd gear in the 30mph)
I'm quite fortunate though as 1 mile in any direction from home is NSL.

Re: engine temperature
Sometime ago someone, Coose I think, fitted a lower operating temperature thermostat. Maybe search his threads/posts to see exactly what he did, I just can't remember.

Re: engine temperature
Nope, the TLS stat didn't make any difference, but if you can find one that fits from something else it should work. My fix was to simply tape up the bottom 5th of the radiator with black Duck tape, which believe it or not was the Yamaha approved method for temperature control on my old (1994) TZ250!

Right this link will provide all the information you require, I used an earlier (carbed model) sv650 thermostat.
You will need to create a new account on the TLzone but it's well worth it.
