Re: Tricolor
Not sure whether to powdercoat to original or black or strip and polish.
Polish is the high maintenance option so probably not.

Re: Tricolor
Nice idea with the colour. Red and green wheels might clash, but I'm considering anything to get away from the standard brown ones on my Rap.

Just seen your piccy in Bike magazine this month. How did the trackday go? Please tell me that you left some Jap-plastic jockeys eating your dust!

Absolutely brill day. Started damp but amazingly not slippery and got better as the day went on.Red Mist wrote:55 years agoJust seen your piccy in Bike magazine this month. How did the trackday go? Please tell me that you left some Jap-plastic jockeys eating your dust!
Found the lean angle limit on a Raptor so have changed front forks and rear shock for xtra raptor which will give a bit more lift at the back.
I was shocked at how quick the rappy was around Cadwell, especially corner speed but also the grunt out of corners ont the straights. The tyres I had on were superb only the front objecting a little on the brakes into mansfield, the chicane and the hairpin. After 2 laps the brakes were needing a firmer squeeze to slow down into the corners but not a big issue.
I had one session one to one with a course instuctor which was brilliant. He showed me some lines around Cadwell which were much quicker than those ridden by the majority and overtakes of "Jap Crap" was not difficult up Coppice, into Mansfield and the chicane and between the Mountain and Hall Bends.
Thoroughly recommended and believe it or not has made road riding seem so full of dangerous cars and roadside furniture it makes riding fast on a track feel so safe.

Re: Tricolor
Looking good! As a temporary (summer) fix, i've wrapped the footrest hangers as far as, but not including the 2 spines that join the main front bit (where your boots rub through the paint) to the rear of the casting with carbon look vinyl. I then sprayed the rest satin black. It doesn't really look that great so later in year will find frame paintcode and use 2 pack with a matting agent to get them to match the frame as per original. When I had my bikepaint business, I did a couple of Ducatis tricolour and they looked pretty good too.

Hmmm - I never thought of 'blue peter' stylee - I have some sticky carbon-effect hanging about, might be worth a play
