Clutch cable options....
Clutch cable options....
Strolling again through the French Cagiva site.....
There seems to be a high number of people replacing their broken clutch cables with a new one for the suzuki GSE 500....
Anyone ever tried one?'? apperently it even has the same bent tube
Cheers,
Paul.

Re: Clutch cable options....
unearthed while diggin for cable info>
Plums - is that GSE item for the 650 only or the 1000 as well?
Miz - do Venhill want any tech info when you call them? Or will they know what I'm asking for? (tech numptie so I don't want to be giving the wrong info)
Xplaination
clutch was getting verry stiff - lubed the cable before the main service (when the push rod was replaced) but 'tis getting stiff again already. Not sure whether it'll be the cable or the throw-out worm lifty thing -- but thought it might be getting the cable in ready for just-in-case

All I did was call them, they had all the details already, cable was posted out and delivered in a couple of days.
Re: Clutch cable options....
If anyone tries the GS 500 cable, can they let us know if it works. I've got a clutch cable on on from Venhill but it would be nice to just order one from the local bike shop if needed, especially if I'm away somewhere at the time. The TL one will do as a get you home repair, but it would nice to know of a good replacement for the standard cable.
The Venhill one is working fine by the way.

Re: Clutch cable options....
They're are some guys on the French site that say that it's the GSE one that works...
If I can find a cheap one on eBay I may go ahead and buy one just to see..
Otherwise you could always swing buy your local Suzuki dealer and ask to compare?
Cheers guys!

Re: Clutch cable options....
I'm still not sure if the 650 and 1000 share the same cable, since I lost my list of parts
Plums finding a suzuki dealer that actually keeps spares in stock would be a wonder to behold but I will ask

Looking on here ...... http://www.oemmotorparts.com/oem4.asp?M ... L=CA-RAP-1
It would appear that they do have different codes...
But at least they seem to sell them

Re: Clutch cable options....
I understand that everyone wants to save money, but the Venhill cable was not expensive (as far as I remember) it fitted, and looked like the original. Why are you expending so much time/effort to find something that "could" fit, but will probably be of inferior quality.

Re: Clutch cable options....
I have used Venhill before very good service and cables at decent prices.
Better to burn out than just fade away!!

errm 'cos since redundancy I've become a cheapskate ?Miz wrote:55 years agoI understand that everyone wants to save money, but the Venhill cable was not expensive (as far as I remember) it fitted, and looked like the original. I currently have a TLs cable on, and was thinking the sharp bend could be the cause of the occasional stiffening up. anyhoo I've been offered a GS500E cable from a broken bike so will check it out when matey gets round to removing it.
But more than likely Venhill will be the next port of call. They don't list them for Raptors on the website but if a phone call is all it takes I will be calling them.
