Gear linkage
Gear linkage
Hi all
Just found my 03 V Rap has a loads of play in the ball joints on either end of the selector rod.
Have managed to tighten it, but no doubt like any ball jointed selector rod it will do it again.
Does anyone have any tips where to get a new replacement?
Thanks
Gareth

Re: Gear linkage
Hi there, I'm a Navigator owner, so not 100% certain if these would fit a Raptor but they are the right ones for my bike.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/M6-Female-RH- ... 5890d6034b
You would need to order one of each, as one is left hand thread and the other end right hand thread.
Hope this helps.

Re: Gear linkage
Evening
Appreciate the help
I think v raptor gear linkage rod ends have a 6mm threaded end, to which an 10 mm nut tightens it to the foot lever or the gearbox at the other end?
They are not push on type socket cup ends, if that makes sense.
Any thoughts
Thanks

Re: Gear linkage
Hi there,
After reading your description I think the Raptor linkage is the same as the Navigator, in which case the ones listed should do the job.

Re: Gear linkage
Ooh, good to know those things are called rose joints, will be handy to know one day, I'm sure, thanks folks!
Road racing's where it's at - going round in circles all day is for hamsters.
Re: Gear linkage
Morning,
Looking at the picture from the ebay pic, im not 100% sure its the correct fitting.
The picture just shows a socket type/ ball joint end, on the V raptor linkage coming out of the ball joint there is a threaded 6mm end, which passes through the gear lever pedal and is secured with a 10 mm nut. The same at the gear box end of the selector rod.
Can anybody shed any light please?
is it a main dealer job?
Thanks
Gareth

Re: Gear linkage
They would work, all you need to do is fit them with a 6mm cap head or button head.Cideredup wrote:Morning,

Re: Gear linkage
Hi is the wear in the ball and socket or is it just the securing nut coming loose? If it is the latter couldnt you just locktite them?

Re: Gear linkage
Hi Thanks for that
The wear is in the ball and socket, quite loose.
Ill try to put a photo on, but they would need a built in bolt for attachment, if that makes sense
Thanks

Re: Gear linkage
Hi all
Could somebody put a photo of their v raptor gear linkage on here, specifically the ball jointed ends please.
My bike is at my parents for a week, and I'm trying to explain the part I'm after.
It's a 6 inch link rod with 2x ball joints on, between the gear lever and gearbox, fits either end using. 10mm nut.
Thanks and sorry for the cheek
All the best

Re: Gear linkage
Bazzywazz
Thankyou for that
As you can see hopefully, the ends of the ball joints have a threaded section which needs a 10 mm nut to lock.
The rs and McGill ones don't seem to be the same, ie no 6mm threaded part from the ball socket?
Does anyone very ideas please?
The 2x ends in the photo are whats required
Thanks

Re: Gear linkage
If the ball joints being worn is the only issue then why not just adjust that wear out so it dont feel floppy?
