Traded our bikes in yesterday for new Suzuki's... I had my 650 raptor since new in 2001, now I'm on a SV650. It'll take a while to get over the funky Italian styling 😕 Hubby had a 1000 for 6 years and now has a 650 V Strom. Loves it, as he's taller and wanted a better riding position. If anyone fancies another Raptor, they're currently at Robinson's in Rochdale!

Think i may have bought the silver 1000 Raptor last Thursday from a guy in Western-Super-Mare , who recently bought it from Robinson's of Rochdale . Look's to be in not bad condition for it's age .

That's great to hear it's gone to a new home! Think the 650 is still available.

I think there will always be a (small) market for well kept Raptors... they are now ~20 years old and starting to become, if not classics, interesting ones to buy.

'Ol Reggie may not be one of those as 50k commuter miles has left him a tad scruffy so perhaps he'll be a keeper with a well earned resto in store.

I think my old 650 has found a new home too - it's no longer on Robinson's website and a new V5 has been issued :D

Views on my SV650 so far - love the fact it's a very similar V twin engine. The gearing is slightly different, but it seems to be happier in 20s in 2nd gear and 30s in 3rd gear. Added piece of mind with fuel injection, ABS etc. Footpegs are in a slightly different position, so there is less pressure on my aging knees, which is a bonus!

But, the seat is HORRIFIC!!! I've never sat on anything so uncomfortable, so it's getting an upgrade over the winter - we have a local company that will add a gel pad and an additional thin layer of foam and reuse the original base and vinyl cover so it'll still be waterproof etc. It'll add about half an inch to the height, but that'll be fine as I had the SV lowered when I bought it.

The only other thing I wasn't so keen on was how skinny the tank looks when you're aboard - the Raptor tank is huge - and this one feels a bit like I'm back on a riding school bike

Planning a trip to Europe next summer, so have been looking at travel insurance and breakdown cover etc - I didn't realise they won't cover bikes over 10 years old!

Hope you're all having a great biking season!
