Can anyone tell me what sort of torque setting I should use on the fork bottom pinch bolts, and the handlebar retainer thing bolts? Can't seem to find them in the manual, so I've gone for "pretty tight" in the meantime!

it says 'controlled tightening' I reckon 'pretty tight' might be better than 'that'll do + a tad'
otherwise in the book there's a list of torques by screw and material, here's a part of it in N.m:-
steel to steel ...... steel on alloy/brass/aluminium
M5 - 6 .......... ... 4
M6 - 10,5 ........... 6,5
M7 - 17 ...... ...... 10,5
M8 - 26 ............ 16
M10 - 52
M12 - 100
As can be seen I'm reading from the book and don't have proper knowledge here, but am relying on someone who knows to put me right if I've mis-advised.

Thanks snapdragon! I now believe a 'handlebar counterpoise fastening' is a bar end. Reading the manual more closely, I have found the settings I need:
Fork bottom pinch bolts (axle fixing screws/spindle - fork foot fastening), page E5 23-25 Nm.
Handlebar retainer thing (called a clevis apparently) bolts, page E16 5-7 Nm.
Front caliper fastening, page F8 39 Nm.
Not VERY tight, really!
Anyway found an interesting vid on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uCrTF5fvzk that gives some good advice, particularly on doing up pinch bolts evenly, that I wouldn't have thought of but makes perfect sense when you think about it.

All useful stuff, though I couldn't get much out of the Youtube vid. Once I saw the bloke's name was NANCY, it all sounded like Blah-Blah-Blah.
