Bye Bye Raptor

Post by jeffgre_6163 »

After 2.5 years of ownership, the raptor is gone.
I dropped it off at the local Buell dealer today where I have traded it in on a 2008 Buell XB12Ss lightning.

I would be lying to say I was sad to see it go.
It was 2.5 years of very mixed owner ship.
Fun to ride, different in a good way, but by the time the chain snapped and caused untold grief [no the raptors fault I know], the plastics kept breaking as they were so brittle and the paint/finish on the triple clamps, foot rest hangers feel off, way to early for a bike with on 40,000 km on it, I was over it.

Good luck to the new owners who ever you may be, I hope you learn to love it more than I did.

I've got an Xtra Rap that's going to be sold if I decide to buy an 1125R Buell. I've also got a XB12Ss in the shed and think it's a bit of a 'nearly bike' + plus there's quite a few build faults and up grades the factory is keeping quiet about  I'd sell this too but Mrs Adam likes riding it
By far the best bikes I've got are a couple of sorted tube frame Buells - sort of like civilised versions of my old NorVin. They're definately keepers 8)

Thought you already knew, Adam!

I wasnt trying to hide or be someone else, honest!!

I personally wouldnt go for a 1125 til they had been around a while, just dont trust Buell to get it right at first go, plus they need to stop whacking it with the ugly stick!!

Maybe it`ll look better in the flesh......................

My thoughts exactly, if there are issues with the 1125 as there have been with with my previous 7 Buells  then these only useful dealer I've found for warranty stuff is Yoffie from DG20 and he's the other end of the country from me. I'm sick of fixing the bodges that dealers have made of recall and warranty work, esp on my XB12Ss. No wonder the MoFuCo have banned me from dealers

I'm quite surprised I thought Buells were really sorted out and reliable these days unlike years ago, don't know anyone or have known anyone who has owned one but there always seems to be a lot of low k ones for sale, I love the 12 xbs (I think) with the translucent red tank and screen, very cool.

Regards, zorro 8)

From a V rap to a Buell wheezer, I hope you are pleased with it.
I did the same in March this year.
Thankfully I have a Pan Euro to get my high speed kicks on now as Buells are far to fragile to rev the shit out of them.

I was just going to die if I kept hold of the V Rap any longer......I do miss it, but I can still visit it, as my bruv now has it :D

Hi Ad, and Killed a man.....
