Raptor Chapter

Thanks to a very helpful member here, I have been able to produce a set of lowering triangles for my wife's 650. Can anyone here tell me which lengths go where. Unfortunately for me, the existing links dropped to the ground when I was working on them (very easy to remove in my case) so I don't have a reference point. There are three sides: 60mm, 64mm and 71 mm. Does anyone know what goes where and on the originals, which way does the arrow on the 71mm side face.

the side with the arrow is the base of the triangle, arrow points towards the front of the bike (just got new bearings in mine)

Great, thanks for that. Took the old ones off while lying on the floor with leg in a half cast. Movement was interesting and the bolts just pulled out very easily and the old triangles dropped unexpectedly, much to my surprise. Fitted the lowering links but my fat bum can make the guard touch the wheel so I knew I had something wrong. Now more mobile so will try again.

hmm pottering about withn a torch at midnight poking about under bike covers with me necker(Buff thingy) pulled up over me head - shall I maybe expect a visit from MrPlod?

Out in the rain with a flashlight! We have a name for that down here. Can be fun though, I've been told!

Had a small ankle operation which ended with me in plaster going nuts after 4 weeks so I decided to get on with lowering the bike. Couldn't crouch, couldn't kneel, couldn't cross my legs to sit so I lay on the floor. Made the job tough as sleeping was always an option

Raining here as well, but it is winter, 10 degrees outside but I'll brave the elements and hit the barn floor again to rotate the triangles. They do go on different ways, it seems, but obviously only one is correct.

Mind the plod and thanks again for crawling around your bike in the rain with a torch, if that is all you were doing.

Of course now the side stand is an issue. I had previously ground the mounting plate and also the U bolt on the stand to get it lower but that also allows it to move further forward which changes the angle and brings the base of the stand too close to the centre of the bike. Make sense? The actual angle of the stand needs to be brought out, away from the bike. I have bought a CBR600 sidestand and will cut and weld that until I get the right setup as I am not too keen to practice on the original. Silly design and I know I am not the first to complain about this. My ZRX has the same issue so it is not just an Italian design fault.

2 trampers died in those hills the day before I took that photo. They were listed missing on the Monday and they found the bodies on Wednesday. The snow line is just above the trees and the two of them were found in the snow 1 kilometer from the hut they were aiming for. They look lovely but are very rugged in places.
