Will I make it to the petrol station?

Post by snapdragon »

What do you all think?
we have 130miles on the trip since last filing up, but I was out without funds/cards today so got home and parked and as it's cold and dark decided to stay.
It's a mile to the nearest fuel (but I'll need to warm her up first I guess) will I make it? or should I send out for a can-full of gas?

Not that I've ever been put in that situation over Tan hill, in the middle of nowhere.

OMG you made 130 on a single trip  the most I have ever had was from my house to the Morrison's before the Cat & Fiddle - 105!!!!! could have made it to the Inn then would be waiting for fuel

Would love to know how your getting such good mileage?

think it was 131.6 or something like that for me......if that helps :?

Nearly took off up the highest pub in the country..due to it being rather light, nearly took out my friends SV....pair of us holding on for dear might in a gale

I wouldn't recommend trying to get much further. Twas a hares whisker from conking out altogether :pinch:

I once managed 130 miles before the light came on  . I was sure the fuel light was broken, but then i was on the autobahn cruising at a 70/80 miles an hour.

ahhh frugal!! ;) I reverted to frugal mode when the light stopped flashing and kept the revs down and the gears up for the 20mile homeward stretch. Not best for a road full of twisties, but having no competition and knowing the road quite well, the bends flowed ok.

I think I was having to use more counter-steering instead of point-and-shoot which was 'different' :ride:

I may wimp-out and get t'dragon to fetch me a can of juice

I have done 10 litres per 100 miles on a steady 90mph cruise 15 litres in a tank gives 150 miles.
130 on normal UK roads general blasting about would have left me pushing it for the last 20 miles.
If its about a mile to the petrol pump and you run out in 3/4 of a mile you only have 1/4 mile to push.

 the first half mile is flat - but the second half is up-hill  and I'm an old ricketty (even though it's softie southern hill)

I'm sure one of our Australian members got in excess of 200k to a tankfull, but I can't proper remember
