Re: GSXR CONVERSION
Hi Spyke, unfortunately it will juts be made up from bits pinched off other bikes as there's very little available for the raptor.Spyke wrote:Definitely quite tidy, but still I'm not 100% convinced. For a very forward nose like that I think it'd look cleaner if there was something to join the nose to the rest of the bike, with it completely separate then it does look like it's not a bikini fairing per se and is just a part of a fairing pinched off another bike. With the Vs and Xtras the indicator pods do the job of joining the nose to the tank visually. I'm looking forward to seeing her evolve anyway.
The guys in the UK that set them up to race years ago don't seem to sell the fairings they made so cost wise it's better to just use what ever race glass will fit best.
I will need to keep it as a bikini fairing as the Cagiva can be raced in Naked Bikes like my sv650.
Maybe more of the upper from a 748 would look good, but the cagiva is actually quite a little bike so I think it will be far too big for the frame. Also, less fairing keeps racing costs down and will crash better.
Re: GSXR CONVERSION
One part done... three to go and order new seals. Seal kits are surprisingly expensive thanks to low aussie dollar damn it!
Re: GSXR CONVERSION
nice work mate, yeah is a good time to stay off ebay with the au. dollar worth next to nothing, great if your selling though

Re: GSXR CONVERSION
Well, local quoted $130 for a seal kit, ebay had them for around $115, but just ordered a set directly from US for $95.ozzraptor wrote:nice work mate, yeah is a good time to stay off ebay with the au. dollar worth next to nothing, great if your selling though
Re: GSXR CONVERSION
Replaced the suspension plates to add more rear ride height.
I think I ordered 30mm ones but it doesn't look like 30 mm difference.
The new shock should be a bit taller again anyway.

Re: GSXR CONVERSION
Spacers have been made for the rotors and axel - will post a pic.
Based off another bike that had a similar conversion.

Re: GSXR CONVERSION
With jack up plates and one cm longer shock I had to knock a dent into the exhaust to clear the chain.
Re: GSXR CONVERSION
What part of the exhaust?bazzywazz wrote:With jack up plates and one cm longer shock I had to knock a dent into the exhaust to clear the chain.
Re: GSXR CONVERSION
I think the original exhaust has a dent already, but after markets do not, the dent is on the inside of the left hand link pipe where the chain passes closest.Lexio62 wrote:What part of the exhaust?bazzywazz wrote:With jack up plates and one cm longer shock I had to knock a dent into the exhaust to clear the chain.
