Heat or leather?

Post by snapdragon »

Being a wimp I haven't ridden very far for the past couple of years, but I did note that on returning from the eastern block (aka Lincolnshire) yesterday my paws were sore, not just the joints and tendons (normal after filtering for me) but skin too. So do you lot reckon this is bad gloves or just the heat of the day (very warm) eh?

Possibly heat, and your gloves combined. Are they new, or old?

I'd be inclined to say they are dry, and lost their suppleness then. Are they worth attacking with a tub of Renapur?

Hand cream is more usual to soften the paws surely?

Mine were sore as well. I think it's just from lack of riding.

Yeah, the leather's not dry or stiff at all but I seem to remember using a heavy duty hand cream (Atrix) which also worked on the insides of the gloves a few years ago, I'll give that another go.
Renapur often on the outsides, either that or dubbin or neat's foot oil.

Two days of tlc and swearing blind that I can't possibly wash dishes (haha) is better, joints and tendons still being a buggrance but then , they do.

+1 with sore paws and I changed gloves. I think it was just the horrible beach ride up and the windy weather back.

Only sore on the return trip for me, but it was hot :sun: so I blame that. I didn't have the gravel ride up, just the wind to battle back but I probably should have changed gloves too.
