I'm Geoff,
I'm soon to be the new owner of a 2002 raptor 1000, all going to plan, I'm looking forward to picking your brains and having a laugh along the way.

I have other bikes, but have in the last year developed my healthy long term apreciation of all things v twin into a not so healthy obsession with suzuki's big lump, and like the idea of it in a small light package, so here I am, looking to go through the bike on getting it, then improving on a few aspects if needs must.

That's me, so hello to you all. :D

Thank you, :)

I have one of the new suzuki v strom 1000's, very nice for it's purpose, and that engine seared me in the quest for the Raptor, hard to find, I'm hoping to get the bike in the next few days, sale is agreed.

Having had a good look through this forum, I can already see me doing a few things to the bike, make sure it's all set up right, then probably see how I feel about the springy bits, maybe upgrade them if needed.

Well I have the bike, and it rides great. :)

It's running stock cans, gear indicator, chain oiler, and the snorkels are gone from the airbox, seems to run very nicely all the same, though I would love to get some snorkels for it, anyone got any? :D

I did have the opening throttle cable snap riding it home after buying it, I clamped the cable end in the threaded section of my e cig, and rode 60 miles like that,  , easy fix with some cable inner and solderess nipples, five minute job, these thinks happen.. :ride:

Might get some carbon cans to chuck on it, give it a bit of burble, and just tidy it up a bit for now, but I think I will end up doing a few mods to it, I would like an adjustable rear shock, and I keep thinking on r1 forks, but I get ahead of myself. :)

Nice looking bike but you need to tidy up your yard.

Thanks, and yes the yard is scruffy, restoring my old house so it's forever full of junk until I'm done. :)

Hi Geoff , welcome in.
I'm in Suffolk but sometimes venture down to Great Bentley bike meet near Colchester on a Wednesday night.
