I know this topic had probably been done a few times.....

But has anyone got a decent fix to it?

Is there a torque setting for the bolts....any particular pattern to put them back in to get the best even seal?

I just found a good quality rtv type instant gasket worked. I think the cover distorts probably just due to creep of the plastic. If you put a straight edge over it between the bolts you will probably see gaps.

Also, check that the steel inserts are not "proud" of the face of the cover, push them back if you can.

I cleaned up both sides..applied instant gasket...tightened enough so a got a good bead around the circumference....and it still bloody leaked!

I'm going to check the inserts this time.....lol.

Cleaned it all back again...presented up totally clean of goo and rubber ring gasket.
It's about 2mm out between 12 o'clock and 2 o'clock. ...no way of pulling it back into anyway near flat using the bolts.
Any mcguyver type ideas????

Tried my black gasket sealer previously but no good...

Maybe get some thick gasket paper and make my own???

2mm that sounds a lot I was thinking 0.5mm was bad. What about degrease it all and gooping but only loosely taking up the slack then tighten after it has set. Or if you are deffo using sealant get some abrasive paper on a flat surface and wear away the high spots.

I recommend you to get a new seal.

Well...got a new seal....
Ground a couple of mm off the inserts ...

And flip me if the mutha Hubbard is still weeping oil out of the top side edge......

Does it get air compression in the clutch casing......???

Any other ideas....?

My next attempt will be to put the cover on a flat sanding area and try to flatten it.......this is really getting my goat!

I went out the other day, luckily I stopped at a mates place and noticed the oil..then notice it has totally coated the rhs of the rear tyre.....I rode home like I had a rolling pin up my jacksie! ...

If you do the sanding thing I wouldn't use the original seal unless you can cut the groove to the correct depth. Just use sealant
And no shouldn't get any crankcase pressure

I've buttoned it all up now with my new seal in place.....

I only shaved it down a bit and still have the seal quite well seated.....will.start it up and see what happens!

Fingers crossed it maybe ok...sods law and advice says different......then it will be out with the goo!

Took mine out for its MOT. Oil all down the RH side all over the back wheel.

Why use plastic clutch cover?

The thing is warped, so using lots of sealant to see if that cures it.

Is there any after market alloy ones available?
