In my experience, there just isn't a swap-out mileage for (Denso) iridium plugs. They work brilliantly out of the box, with better starting, and just go on faultlessly forever. That's for a given value of forever, of course, but my ST4 has only had one set in the bike since I bought it on 3K miles and it now has 33K. Didn't need to buy four at that time; could have saved some money...

The local dealer advised me CR8EK's as well, so that is what I went for. It also seems that there are no NGK plug caps that are long enough to fit the Raptor/TL1000, so they had to order them (+/- 2 weeks), so I'll first try with the current ones and ordered them anyway.

Also cleaned the injectors, I'm only waiting for the new gas pump gasket to come in so that I can test run it :ride:

I order the plug cap (for a TL1000S), from Fowlers. 23 sovs mind but it was a no hassle fit.

Don't throw away the rubber plug either as that is a separate item see https://www.fowlersparts.co.uk/parts/52 ... l-model-v

Well, after replacing the spark plugs, replacing the fuel pump/filter, cleaning the injectors, still no smooth running machine. Nothing has changed the way it behaves :( So I was already thinking of ordering the spark plug caps as mentioned above and also a new thermostat (as mentioned in another forum), then I thought perhaps it does have something to do with the ECM mapping or perhaps a failed ECM. I borrowed the ECU from a mate (riding a V-Raptor) and now my Raptor is running good! Not perfect, still the 3k dip as we know it, but MUCH better.

As specialist I spoke about is still on a holiday and as I am not certain it is the mapping, or a failed ECU/ECM, I'm now trying to find a second hand one for not too much. Anyone experience with mapping an ECM?

I finally found my throttle gremlin in the wiring loom. Worn clutch lever sensor switch was one culprit, the other was corroded wiring into the coils. Also replaced the rats' nest of vacuum tubing under the tank seemed to help.

Well, I'm now running a stock mapping and yet it was still a bit weird sometimes. It didn't held in anymore, but when cold it tended to rock up/down a few times. I had this GiPRO S01 with ATRE laying around from a friend of mine and decided to give it a try. That solves about everything, runs even smoother than it was and it's also nice to know in which gear you ride :ride:
