TL1000R pistón in Raptor
I have to open up my engine as the rear cylinder has a metalic sound...
Si as I have the engine open why not change for some hi compression pistons!
I have just find for the TLR do they fit right in?
I have been looking at Wiseco, JE and https://www.spearsenterprises.com/sv1000-tl1000.html
Do you have anything to recommend?

I dont see why not, but you will obviously need to look at the possibility of needing a rebore so you wont be able to order them until you have it in bits
Oh and we used to use wiseco in the triumphs without any issues but it was 30 years ago!

Re: TL1000R pistón in Raptor
Not sure if this may help but I'm pretty sure the engine in a Raptor is a TL1000S model X/Y/K1 - see viewtopic.php?f=11&t=5085
And looking at the same dealers spares site the pistons for the TL-S & TL-R have different part numbers i.e. 12111-02F00-0F0 & 12111-02F11-0F0 respectively. Now, whether this is because of a different bore/shape/compression I couldn't say.
Another thing I'd think about is if the TL-R piston 'works' with the TL-S valve timing.
Cheers,
Andy B

Thank you gues for the feedback!
Another question is, prepare the Raptor engine spending +-1500€ or purchasing a used TLR engine.
The cost is more or less the same..

We have an expression in the UK (probably the same in Spain) - Better the devil you know..Another question is, prepare the Raptor engine spending +-1500€ or purchasing a used TLR engine.

How about doing both ? repairing and a spare.

I suppose your right!
I did measured valva gaps and everything is ok, I also pulled out the water pump (braking the bloody impeller) and clutch and every thing looks good!
Can it be that I’m a bit paranoias with the ticking sound from the rear cylinder

Re: TL1000R pistón in Raptor
I made a good purchase buying a used 999s Öhlins
I really felt frustrated but then I phoned a friend who sells used parte, He will take my unit in change plus money giving me a nice more modern Öhlins If not he has also a WP paying nothing between!
I will try them on this week
