Hi all here's my project. I know I am absolutely barking for taking this on it makes no financial sense whatsoever I paid too much for it and will spend too much on it. Those tinted spectacles of mine need destroying

Oo I don't know... it does look to be all there although there appears not to be a radiator.
It all depends on what your expectations where when you first bought it... everything is possible with time, money & intent. And when did financial sense be a concern where enjoyment is concerned?
Frames & wheels can be painted/recoated, engine covers can be cleaned up, wiring sorted... as long as the engine internals are ok. Bodywork is nigh on impossible to find but there are quite a few tanks about second hand.
That rear end will require some patience and a gallon or two of release fluid mind.
Enjoy & it's always pleasing to see an old 'un resuscitated.

I always knew that I was not normal . Does the fact that it does have a tank and radiator make it any better ? I think not .

big thanks to Nick ST4 for a nice shiny shock progress is being made now the headlamp rim is going to be shown up. At least the wheel spindles are pickling nicely. As for the new forks customs have taken over from the DVLA as my new spanner in the works

No problem on the shock Phil, it's nice to shift some of the accumulated bits in my shed. I like the see-thru headlamp rim for added bulb cooling but you'd do better to fit a cool-running LED H4!

The holes are not for bulb cooling alone the main purpose is for cash to evaporate through

Good Lord! that's what you call rust...
I must admit I'm keeping a close eye on this thread because I've recently retired and when I get settled & sorted I'm gonna be stripping and rebuilding the old boy. He deserves it after 6 years & ~60k miles of commuting.
I'm presently idly musing on possible standout colour schemes... the frame does does call out for something garish and as for the brown wheels. Who thought that would look good?

Congrats on the retirement. Now you can really get busy!
Re colour schemes for your trusty steed; I though you'd called it/him Reggie? Surely something dignified is needed to go with that title? Roxie sounds more appropriate for what you have in mind!

I took have just retired Nov last year I think I have just spent my pension on forks from Italy vat import duty and to top it of I had to register with HMRC as a importer to get them released. Ah well they nearly fit I like to do all the work myself on my projects but this time I don't think I will rattle can in the house it's probably more than my good lady can take but not as bad as the glass dining table that met with a 22mm socket

I'm 2 weeks into retirement and haven't been busier... but before starting on the dismantling I'm gonna get sorted on the house front. Looking to down size and get somewhere with a bigger garage or space to build one. Looking somewhere out your way in Lincs/Norfolk.
Yep... Reggie was/is his name but I do like the sound of Roxie for summat a little more glamorous. I am presently taken with yellow for the body work for which a cool steel blue might blend well with. Plenty of time to come up with more horrid schemes though...

Yeah getting a top quality finish with the rattle cans is tough... the preparation of the surface to be rattle canned is the really tough part.
Ooo dear.... I like the fact you remembered the specific size of the socket

Yes 22mm now that was only the start when the table smashed the bike headed straight for the patio doors. This was 2008 in 2007 we did a 7 week tour of Europe on it with no issues. In 2008 we set of for Africa on it we got as far as Saltash the funny bit was I had engraved inside the sump ( Phill and Gaynors Africa tour 2008 )
