New Raptor Owner

Post by danman »

Just thought I'd drop a line and say what a good forum this is and am glad that I found it. As detailed in the title I will be picking up my Raptor 650 mid next week all going well. It needs to be shipped from Vic to Western Aust and they are anticipating about a week to do so.

I am the second owner of the bike, its plated 11/01, and it has 13,000kms on it and has a set of Staintune pipes fitted. It is a pale yellow colour with blue wheels. Is this a standatd colour? It also has a small screen fitted and a seat cowl, which I believe is from the 1000 or did they come out on the 650?

Cheers for now.

Its a naked version. I'm glad it came with the Staintunes, saves me some money as well as means I don't have to decide what pipe to choose.

The weathers still good here 39 degrees today and tomorrow and should stay nice for the next 5 weeks or so.

My bike has wheels that are blue. Is this a standard colour or do you think that have been painted?

Cheers

With delivery getting close I'm itching to get out and go for a ride. Once its delivered I need to register then its off for a ride. Apart from the basic checks Eg lights, tyre pressures, brake fluid and oil is there anything in particular that I should look out for before heading out for a ride Wednesday eveving with a few mates?

Thanks in advance

Well I finally got the bike on Friday. Spent the afternoon registering etc etc. Did 300 kms over the weekend with the girlfriend on the back.

After some initial concerns, the bike is very very different to the NC30 I had previousley, I am begining to get the hang of it and I love it.

I've already come up with a list of thigs to do;
1. Change the mirrors, the round one look dopey, Not sure what to get but have seem that the Ducati Multistrada has nice shaped ones with indicators built in. Anyone have any thoughts?
2. Change the bars, maybe with something flatter but the chrome bars do not look right against the rest of the bike.
3. Change the levers for some flash looking ones, I have seen some nices ones out of the ducati performance catalouge.
4. Ride it lots more.

Cheers

Raptors in OZ

Post by alraptor »

Was in Oz in December and got very excited when I saw a Raptor in that bike shop on Elizabeth St, Melbourne... Are there many of them in Oz? Are they mainly 650's or 1000's? Didn't see any on the roads on my travels through Asia, Oz or NZ  What's it like getting spares and servicing?!

I'm based in Western Australia so am limited in the feedback I can provide. From what I understadn I have the only 650 in the state. I was at the only Cagiva dealer in the state and they mentioned that the of the 2 650 shipments that came into Aust none of the bikes ever made it to WA. I know of some other people that have bought 1000s and would assume that there are about 10 about. The interesting part is that the WA dealer also sells MVs, Benelli's and Honda's so there are a large number of differing naked bikes available.

I've not really had a problem getting parts but sayoing that all I have bought to date are a new set of front brake pads and the dealer had the EBC HHs on the shelf.

I am struggling to find a set of handlebars and mirrors at the present though.

Cheers
