Have you replaced the original flasher unit with an LED one? It sounds like when you increase the revs the indicators are actually flashing that fast that they look like they're constantly on.

If the drain is spinning then the thread has stripped, the thread is only plastic anyway, after mine blocked up twice (and left me standed one too many times) I just removed it completely and just make sure I don't overfill the tank.
