Re: Suspension link/Dogbone bearings
I reckon Joe's got the best idea here.... can't go wrong with stainless. I reckon Andy has got the best idea going with stainless steel pins. The bearings will have a mild steel cage and that is the weak point, and stainless is harder than mild steel. I was a boilermaker/welder for 25 years, and if...

Re: New Additions to the Garage
Went and had a look at a Gran Canyon today Nick, to see the differences for the 19 inch front wheel compared to the 18 inch Navigator front wheel. My Navigator was the second one the dealer had seen, until I pointed out mine had the Suzuki motor, he's sold one Raptor previously. I paid $4k for mine,...

Re: New Additions to the Garage
I used to have a TDM850 in a former life I test rode a TDM850 when they first released them in Australia and quite liked the idea of a road chassis with long travel suspension. Ended up buying a Kawasaki GTR1000 as I have a preference for shaft drives. A couple of years ago bought a Honda Deauville...

New Additions to the Garage
Have added 2 more Cagivas to the garage, both Navigators. First one has 24000 kilometres on the clock, was told it was in VGC and after hiring a trailer and driving 5 hours to get it (10 hour round trip), I found it had been in storage for 2 years in a salt water environment, the forks were rusty an...

Re: Suspension link/Dogbone bearings
Here to help as much as I can guys! There's a couple of issues I see as to why there is an issue with those bearings. One is the location, all the grime and crud flicked off the front wheel goes directly on that link. The other issue is that the bearing don't rotate fully, but rocks back and forth i...

Re: Suspension link/Dogbone bearings
Just had a look at one of the MV Agusta websites here in Australia, and they can supply the pins you need, I suggest you try one of the dealers near you and see if they can get them. Part number is 800095057.

Re: Suspension link/Dogbone bearings
Seems to be a standard issue with the Raptors, my 650 carby wasn't that bad but the needle roller bearings and cages were destroyed. The bearings are very generic, any good bearing shop should be able to supply them, dimensions are: 22mm outside diameter, 16mm inside diameter and 16mm long. Bearing ...

Re: 650 vs 1000?
I can nearly bet the wishbone bearings on the rear shock are destroyed, seems to be a common problem. The sizes are in the parts list http://img.webike.net/sys_images/genuin ... 0-2005.pdf

Re: air fuel sensor
To me it sounds like something to do with a wiring connection from the gear position sensor. Suzuki retarded the timing in the lower gears to get past ride by noise tests at around the rpm your bike is having problems. Maybe a TRE(timing retard eliminator) might solve the problem. Do you have a powe...

Sorry mate, I missed your post last weekend. I'm pretty sure I put a 2001 SV650 one on my 2001 650 Raptor.

Re: 650 vs 1000?
I've had a 2001 650 Raptor (carby) for 8 years and recently purchased a Navigator. I've had my licence for 29 years and I'd always lean towards the 650 as an experienced rider. The reality is that the extra horsepower you'll never utilize, you'll just burn more fuel, tyres and brakes for no gain. My...

Re: Engine failure.....
Very nasty, and commiserations on your list of problems! If, as you say, some of the bits have come off the rod bearing shell, I guess they may have gone straight down into the gears visible in your last-but-one pic, breaking off a tooth. First time I've heard of a bearing shell disintegrating. Pre...
