Definitely a Cagiva, but not a Raptor!

what rear shocks is it wearing? I've just remembered the manufacturer I was trying to think of - they're not Fournales are they? No, just basic Hagons with full shrouds. I specified a bit of extra length to jack the back up a bit and some light springs, and they do pretty well. As it happens, they ...

What did you do to your Raptor today

And the missing pic... Just as an addition to the above, I needed to re-route the throttle cables because they were much too tight as they were before, especially on full lock to the right. I've run them behind the headstock, bringing them out in front of the tank on the left. I felt it was worthwh...

Definitely a Cagiva, but not a Raptor!

Very cool bike, how long have you had yours? Twenty-four years! Long ago, I graduated to a Ducati ST4 and tried to sell the Ally, but no-one wanted it apart from a chap who would have made a cheap Pantah cafe racer out of what is a great street bike. It took a while for me to realise that my soul w...

Definitely a Cagiva, but not a Raptor!

Just for fun, I thought I'd introduce most of you to a Cagiva that predates the Suzuki-engined Raptors. The Alazzurra dates back to the time when Ducati was saved from collapse by Cagiva, who began producing their own bigger bikes with Ducati motors. The first was a sport-touring version of the Duca...

Too many buildings around there for my tastes. Loads of traffic too, I shouldn't wonder.

What did you do to your Raptor today

I had a feeling the Italian Motorcycle Owners Club were behind this meeting. I even belonged to IMOC when I had a Guzzi V50 and found my lovely Cagiva Alazzurra in their mag. It was news to me that a 'sensible' Ducati Pantah was ever made, and my interest in owning Ducatis and especially Cagivas sta...

I've seen reference to this Buell/Italian tie-up before, but never understood the connection between Buells, with their antiquated engines, and the average sophisticated Italian machine. Maybe Guzzis are closest to Buell, but even they are relatively-smooth. I rode a Buell Ulysses once which had rub...

Oh well, back to amnesia as regards the site login. Happily, I can see if there's been any new posts before I bother to do the thing with name and password. Not a big deal, of course.

Yes, Venhills have a good reputation, but I managed to get a much smoother run for the twin throttle cables without going for new ones.

What did you do to your Raptor today

Looks good to me Nick, i am on my third pair of handelbars on mine! I took the bike for its MOT test yesterday and the first thing my friendly tester did was to start the engine and then yank the 'bars left and right as a routine check. To my horror, the revs went sky-high! I thought I'd been able ...

OK, mugshots taken! The new bars aren't exactly ape-hangers as you might have imagined, but to me they tally with the character of the bike which is more street than wanna-be sports.
