Saw my old bike today :)

Post by HiFi »

Back in the 90s I wanted a Yamaha V-max more than anything, finally got one in 2002 but a job loss and general lack of money meant I had to sell it in 2004..... Riding home today I spotted a 'max in the traffic ahead, got closer and did a double-take when I saw the number plate... My old 'max! The owner was very friendly and chatted for a bit, the bike looked a bit tattier than I remember but still sported the expensive Dymag wheels I put on! Sorry, not Raptor-related but the picture below at least shows my Rappy and my old bike together lol

It was a mega bike, acceleration really got you in the guts :D So heavy though, just pushing it about in the garage was murder!
Those Dymags were neat, got rid of the silly stock Bridgestones and put Pirellis on, cornering was so much better after that.
The handling wasn't up to Rappy standards but I never had any complaints, even the brakes were OK in their own way

I have always wanted a V Max but never got around to owning one. Went to see one about a year ago but the idiot had brush painted the engine :? Really loved the look of the max though and the seat height was ideal for my short fat legs. Weighs a ton though and handles like a pig on LSD :woot:

Well happy with the Rap though ... good looking 8) and power and handling to boot.

I'm afraid I'm not man enough for a V-Max. If anybody is capable of riding one on full throttle then they have my respect! Sometimes the idea appeals to me, sometimes not. I really would like a bike with a V4 engine in though. Pity that everybody who makes them puts them in a chassis that I don't like.

Tried sitting on a Tuono the other day at the bike show. I thought, hellfire this is tall; I'd probably end up falling over on the thing at a standstill! Then I heard a crash and looked up to see that the guy sitting on the RSV4 in front of me was now lying on the floor under the bike with a bunch of concerned looking Aprilia officials dashing forward to rescue him... or the bike. Not sure which their priority was.

Yeah but if you were in the market for a drag bike it'd be a contender, no?

It's the 30 year anniversary of them, apparently time flies whether you're having fun or not.

EDIT: Apparently they're now also doing a carbon edition - looks light and nimble, NOT!
