I have the Pirelli Angels on my 1K and they do a good job so far as I can judge. If they needed replacement, I'd go to my favourite Avon Storm radials which transformed the handling of the Gran Canyon and have served very well on the ST4. Then again, any fresh rubber with the proper shape to the tread works wonders!

I do around 50 miles a day on my commute and in 3/4 years have only used two different makes of tyres.

Michelin Pilot 3 & 4 which were great tyres and an absolute revelation in the wet. That was until I starting using Metzeler Roadtecs which are another step up from the MIchelins and an absolute revelation in all conditions, cold, wet, very wet, damp, warm & hot. They also last a good old while, 7k on the rear and counting, & I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone. Never had a dodgy moment with them although at, ahem high speed they are sensitive to low pressures.

Unfortunately all this quality does come at a price...
