Rear sprocket carrier bolts

Post by andybaggies »

In the process of replacing the chain & sprockets - only 10k from the last (DID) chain  Road salt & ahem, perhaps not the best maintenance, had totally shagged it...

Anyway onto the topic in hand, I'm thinking of replacing the rear sprocket carrier bolts for some stainless items. But I can't find any part threaded ones with a low profile (button) head like the originals.

So do you reckon it'd be OK to use full threads ? I checked the originals and they aren't a close fit as there is play between it and the locating holes in both the sprocket & carrier.

And do you reckon they are in anyway stronger in shear than an off the shelf SS bolt?

While we're on the sprocket subject make sure to dump that crappy 16/40 oem, very poor chain to sprocket wear ratio, dont expect it to last very long!
