TL1000 fuel pump

Post by Horny675 »

You can fit a fuel pump from a TL to a Raptor. However, the fuel sensors on the TL are much lower, so you will only have about 5km after the low fuel warning light starts flashing before you coast to a halt!!
The answer is to raise the thermistors by cutting and extending the wires (solder). I used a bracket made from my old meccano set (!!). Before and after pics below. If you reuse the old gasket, use some petrol proof gasket sealant on both sides!

An update - the fuel pump fitted to my Xtra Raptor is the same as that fitted to a TL1000R, NOT the TL1000S. The photos show what this is like. I only found this out when I ordered a new fuel pump gasket, since using the old one proved unsuccessful. I initially ordered one for the TL1000S (since the Raptor has a TL10000S engine), only to find it was the wrong one. The TL1000R one is correct! Strange!
