Your PCII I believe is probably not a USB version. The cable required is a serial cable.
Later laptops may not have a serial cable port.
Serial port to usb adaptor is available from Dynojet. http://www.dynojet.co.uk/faq.htm
If you have a serial port you will need to have the computer close to the bike as the Power Commander needs to be powered to accept new maps.
Alternatively you can obtain a powered link lead which powers the comander via a 9v battery and enables re-mapping in comfort wherever your computer is situated.
The lead and the powered adaptor are not expensive, if you are a bit handy with a soldering iron you can make a powered adaptor using components from Maplins.
or http://www.dynojet.co.uk/powercommander/accessories.htm
Dynojet do have maps on their website to download which might be suitable depending on what mods you have done.
I have a couple of custom maps that should suit a 996 Raptor with venom cans with baffles fitted, timing ratard eliminator. k and n air filter. I can email to you if you want.

HELP
PC!!
yes i presume so i have installed the software that came with the lead and i have tryed 2 laptops but neither are recognising the power commanderCoose wrote:Is the laptop seeing the USB lead as a serial port? You do need to load the software/driver that comes with the lead.
i have put maps on the pc software so it must be ok and as i said the green lightb is on the pc and bike runs do you think its the lead.
i need a stella.
With the lead connected, have a look in Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager and look down the list for Ports (COM & LPT). Expand this and it should have COM1 or 2 listed. If not it's your USB lead that's at fault so you could try a different USB port (if you have one) and try reloading the software.
Hope this helps!

Hi kev
I have two maps specifically for cagiva that a nice technician from Dynojet sent me. send me a private message and i'll mail them to you.
The cable I use is the standard serial cable running through a serial male one end to serial female the other end. I have a little square 9v battery connected into the wires that link the two and can load and unload maps or even write / modify what i have. obviously al this takes place off the bike hence te need for te 9v battery.
Have you got the dynojet power commander control centre programme installed on your computer? if you have when you attach your power commander to the computer there are several options like "send map to commander"
Each map is displayed as a digital matrix of numbers which are the commands to tell the fuel injection how long to inject fuel for. Putting it simply.
Good luck, if you have a suitable map you should notice better driveability less flat spots etc.
However you may notice a marked increase in fuel consumption.
