Quick Exhaust Question

Post by fatfingers73 »

Morning all,

Just won some venom cans off ebay, all my previous bikes have had bolt on cans.

Don't want to sound stupid (too late!!) but what holds the cans to the link pipes?

Is it just springs or do I need a sealant of some sort?

Many thanks. :)

From the pictures on the Motad website it looks like springs holding the cans to the link pipes, but they do not list anything for the Raptor. You may have to do some mods to get them to fit.

Hi, I had venom cans previously on my rap and the springs hold the can to the pipe fine, no need for anything else.

The pipe slots inside the can a fair way so it doesnt need any additional sealing and the same for the pipe/downpipe union.

Thanks for your help, does the downpipe/linkpipe connect with spring also or bolts?

The linkpipe slots over the downpipe and clamps on using your existing clamps.

No need for any other sealing here either.

Pretty sure i have venoms on mine and its worth knowing that one can will stick out more than the other, we were messing about for ages thinking it was wrong. You get used to it after a while :) and don't notice it.

I've read a few posts on here about that, could you not cut the link pipe down?

My wifes just phoned to say they've been delivered :D Will hopefully fit them tonight.

Cheers.

Hi there, as already stated the Venom cans probably have springs to hold the cans in situ', this is only achievable if you have lugs welded to the link pipes to enable the springs to hook into.
Most other companies use a heavy duty bolted pipe clamp, usually a 51-55mm or 55-59mm depending upon the outer diameter of the pipe on the can, where it slides over the link pipe.
These can be purchased at engineering supplies and hydraulic pipe supplies companies.
You are looking for the likes of a "Norma GBS" clamp, and you want to get at least a W2 version of any clamp, as this is a stainless steel band with a zinc coated bolt.
Try "Hall-Fast" in Newark, Flowtech in Skem, both on the internet.
"Brammer" (BSL) in most towns, or get onto google for your local area..

hope this helps..

I tried to cut the link pipe down and it didn't work, the difference is there but you get used to it and don't notice it.

It sounds like it is the angle of the bends in the link pipe that are wrong, not the length of the link pipe

Why did it not work, that's what I was going to do? I was going to cut the right link pipe down where it meets the can.
