I have been thinking of the Magura Hymec hydraulic cable for almost a year now. Found it here http://vwmt.de/shop/product_info.php/in ... e7083735ba
Since my school German is not what it used to be Before I knew it I have ordered one
I just wanted to know what the postage was; fortunately it was reasonable (€15) so now I’m just waiting for it to arrive.
The only thing that worries me a bit is the fact that this guy http://www.kunstverglasungen.de/Raptor/
had to make an extension because the bracket were you connect the wire to the clutch release needs another 10 mm.
Infact I had the same experience when I tried an SV 650 cable last year. The bare wire was about 5mm. to short
I can´t grasp why that is. I mean it’s the same engine...
Well I will tell you have it goes...
If anybody already tried the Hymec conversion, feel free to comment.
Cheers!

1. To pass time.NZraptorgirl wrote:Why?
2. Get a maintenece free set up.
3. A smother and nicer feel.
4. No going through down town in rush hour traffic with out clutch.
5. No more wait on OEM to ship the right cable
Are my main reasons.
See ya!

Re: Hydraullic clutch cable
Got it yesterday. Fitting was easy, just like replacing the original clutchcable. Actually fits like a glove. The lenght of the rod at the slave cylinder is just right and It comes prefilled so no bleeding necessary.
Only real challange is to hide the cable since it´s a bit longer than needed. And must be at least 30 mm away from any hot spots.
It comes with clutch switch, but had to replace the connectors.
Looks pretty neat, with the cable in carbonfiber.
So far I must say I like it. So much softer to operate and you have a constant pressure point and you get a better feel of the point where the clutch actuates and realases.
Hope to find a nice looking 3:d party lever though...
Cheers!

Re: Magura Hymec Hydraulic Clutch Cable
Strange you couldnt get an SV650 cable to fit, I had to get one in Edinburgh once and used it for a few 1000 miles till the OEM one came .
Interested in the hydraulic set up though, is it lighter or about the same weight as the cable set up?

Stay calm.
Re: Magura Hymec Hydraulic Clutch Cable
They claim it´s up to 150 g. lighter than the original set up. I don´t know I would have guessed it´s about the same...pod wrote:Strange you couldnt get an SV650 cable to fit, I had to get one in Edinburgh once and used it for a few 1000 miles till the OEM one came .

There is no other Suzuki model except SV 650 in the Magura Catalog. But if the distance from the engine block to the clutch release lever is about the same, I think about 55mm. It would fit. Or make a replacement fitting for the release lever as the German guy did. http://www.kunstverglasungen.de/Raptor/
I can relly recomend it!
Cheers!
