Hi from Australia
Hey guys, new to the raptor world. I have had my 2004 Raptor 1000 for around 2 months or so now. No problems apart from a very touchy clutch. I fixed that by doubling up the plates and soaking them in oil for a few days. It is much more progressive now, and easier to get off the line.
If there are any other Raptor lovers in/around Brisbane, shoot me a PM with your details. Should catch up for a ride etc.
My bike is stock except for a pair of Leo Vinci Carbon pipes, K&N filter, removed airbox horns, wider bars, and soon to be streetfighter headlight and bar end mirrors. I have been riding for 17 years - had around 20 odd bikes, and this is by far the best i have had. I love the torque, the sound and the simplicity of the bike.
Thew a pic of my bike and me on here for your criticism.

Ah good old Willowbank dragstrip. Seems like an age since I was up there. Let me say riding in snow here is far less enjoyable!

Hi from where Mark Webber lives.
What are you doing to that Rap? Have you no respect?
I know what you mean about the clutch, drag starts are nigh on impossible. More power, more bite, more wheelie.
Welcome cobber.

Hi, and great picture! What times did you run and how does it compare with other bikes that you've raced there?
I'm a great fan of Australian lagers, so I'll go for a pint of Fosters, ta.

Re: Hi from Australia
I only drink bourbon and coke, do they have that here..??
I only took it the once, and had clutch issues (too much bite and little to no clutch control).
Best time on the day was 11.8 at 113mph. By the feel of it, once the clutch is fixed i could squeeze probably 11.6 or maybe an 11.5 out of it. I am 6'5" and 120kg suited, so not built for speed.
My last bike was a 2005 turbocharged GSXR750, so a bit difficult to compare - but honestly i would rather ride the raptor on the street than that. I love the bottom end torque (which the turbo had none of)
I have raced plenty of bikes at the drags, and the closest comparison would be my 1985 Yamaha V-max. Loads of bottom end torque, not alot of top end zing. It ran 11.8 @ 112mph. That bike was not a good wheelstander though.

G'day from the Top End (Darwin). I'm a newcomer here meself but it seems like a fantastic place for all things Raptorish, and the folks are mighty friendly.

Re: Hi from Australia
Well guys - the time has come for me to depart. I have passed my much loved Raptor onto a new caring owner her in Australia. I have told him about this forum, so most likely he will be lurking around here somewhere.
I have to say, the Raptor has been the most fun i can have on a bike under 150km/h, but my desire for speed has arisen, and i am again in the 4cylinder world.
Enjoy your Raptors all, and all drinks are on me for the next 2 hours.
