Why is there so many different thoughts on the size of the fuel tank?
After recently getting my tank painted, we decided to measure the exact amount of fuel put in the tank. My handbook says it is a 17lt tank. We measured 15.6lt, and that was right to the top. Now I know the fuel pump takes up some room, but surely not that much.
Just on different subject, I was lucky that I got it painted too, because when my husband took the fuel pump out - guess what ?
Of course there was water in the tank, and the fuel pump had just started to get a few spots on it ! So it cleaned up really nicely and he also fixed the blocked hose as well.
Just glad that it is all good, now off for another ride

I would think that the 17L figure is the volume of the inside of the tank with the fuel pump installed, the reason you only got 15.6L in from empty is that there is an air space at the top of the tank that you cannot fill with fuel as the neck of the filler cap is lower than the top of the tank.
