Ah cool, my chiropractor just put me on to Shorai, and he's usually good with stuff, nice to hear a second opinion though.

:mrgreen: bought this item (via the above ebay supplier who are Paul Smeeton's Bitz for Bikes in Rochdale Lancs UK) ordered and paid yesterday afternoon it was with me before 9 this morning, no arguing with that service :thumbsup: typically 'tis heaving down with rain today, just to make the job easier like :cold:

Hello. My friend put a new lithium in his bmw s100rr. He's an occasional weekend / track day guy so rides it once or twice a fortnight. It died after 18 months and the american battery company told him it died because it had discharged completely, due to a licence flip up plate being left on. The company told him that their lithium batteries should never be completely run down below about 10 volts. He's annoyed at the short life due to this negative feature but loves the weight saving. His lithium battery weighs .8kgs. A good lithium battery user info site is the www.s1000rrforum, under the category Ultra Light Weight Lithium Batteries. Cheers!!

Ah bugger, handy to know that. Looking at the Shorai websites it seems we get a 2 year warranty here in Oz, but the yanks get 3 years, hope they extend that for us too by the time I need one!

In that case i am glad i connected my gipro straight to the ignition and not the battery so its not draining the battery all the time. Love my lithium battery!

Hi ozzraptor,

The connector you can rebuild your self. Think it will be the easiest and cheapest way to. It looks a lot like the connector i used to do a workaround on my side stand when i had trouble with it. The only difference is that the side stand is a 2-way connector and the one you show in the picture looks like a 3-way connector just referring to the amount of cables that i can see coming into the connector.

The parts i used were these:

The Sockhet housing 2-way

If it is a 3-way you need it should be this one:

The crimp socket:

Or alternatively, cut off the melted connector and use crimp connectors, diodes and heat shrink. Might not be pretty, but it is hidden under the seat/tank.

Yeah thanks guys and in the event this should happen to anyone else lots of info here in the event your safety vehicle switch ? lead should drop onto the rear exhaust header :oops: although was like that when i bought bike :D Might pay just to check and secure its position, not really sure where it should be ?

Mine was running around loose to the brake side of the battery, near the expansion tank. The front rubber "zip tie" on the brake side of the trellis frame wasn't doing much so I wrapped it round the VSS and the big thick tube of wiring too, should keep it out of trouble I hope. In this pic you can just see the VSS is nestled behind the thick tube of wires and below the expansion tank hose. I did notice in your pics that you still have two rubber things on the brake side trellis, do you mind me asking is your front one doing something useful that I should copy?
