Conventional (Axial) vs. Radial Master Cylinders, worth reading

And please have a look at the recent post in http://www.raptorchapter.org.uk/viewtop ... 367#p30345,Crap Tartan wrote:decent quality brake lines make a huge differance to power and feel,
all race set-ups use a single line from MC to each caliper so a constant single pressure is at each caliper.
The combination of these (never mind the improvements gained by the right type pads) will give improved power (pressure), more consistent braking (single feed) and better feel as there is less pulsing/ fluctuation due to expansion of brake line when under pressure.
Then make sure its bled correctly with fresh, good quality brake fluid!
TBH unless you are racing bikes, these simple and comparatively cheap upgrades are more than enough.
Such things as radial MC/ larger diameter discs/ upgraded calipers should be seen as more psychological factors and are only measurable improvements when applied to racing.

Thats the best start! So what brake lines does your bike have at the moment?Dante wrote:Thanks!
I ll start with a fluid change and new pads to see the difference!

Whilst you are down at the front calipers, before you start, make sure all the pistons are moving in/out freely and none are sticking.
Thats what you call preventative maintenance. do this sort of easy job regularly then you never have the problem of siezed pistons or calipers.Miz wrote:Crap Tartan wrote:

Whenever I take my calipers off, I use small clamps to hold the pistons in, then pump one piston at a time out into the caliper, making sure I stop before popping it out completely, never seem to have any problems with them sticking.

But those HEL are nice. After a mc I' ll think about purchasing them.
I'll clean the calipers and the pistons when I will replace the pads.
well then just go for it, just be aware of the additional problems a differant MC will bring and make sure you get any new brake lines custom made rather than a "Raptor" kit!Dante wrote:Yeah, pretty much you're right!
But both will be done propably so the order has little importance I think!
I want to make the best out of my brakes.
