last post before i buy
After nearly 18 months off the road, i'm a week away from buying a Raptor 1000
In that 18 months i've been forced upon public transport. had to listen in vain bikes fly past in the summer day
But the DVLA and my doctor have done the right thing and given me my licence back
In these 18 months i've done my research on what bike i fancied. the two bies it was always between, were the Honda x11, and Daytona 600. I joined the fourms, found out the pro's and con's of both.
Oh I was close to buying an honda x11. but then my friendly local dealer (Road and Racing in Hyde, Manchester) phoned me a couple of weeks to tell me he was getting a Cagiva Raptor 1000 in.
A Raptor 1000. But i hadn't heard of one, or done any research.
So i joined this forum. Asked the questions, read 2 years worth of posts. and today i went to look at it. The owner had traded it in for an MV (lucky git!)
Oh my it's beautiful. the fuel tank is a work of art (photos don't do it any justice)
And so when i have my licence in my hands next week, i'll be off for a test ride. It would have to ride like a scooter for me not to buy it.
And so to my final questions.
Belly pan. Has anyone got any photo's of a raptor 1000 with an sv1000 belly pan on it?
Where do people get there 'nut's from (they look a little worse for wear)
And last. Anyone got some cool carbon parts, or race cans for sale?

Because I'm under 21 and can't take a direct access, my Raptor 650 needs to be fitted with a restrictor kit for me to be able to ride it legally. I called the bike shop and they said the restrictor kit they bought for it is for the old model not the new model which I've got, and wont fit. They have the restrictor for the SV650, but because the restrictors are type approved for one bike only, not one engine, it would be illegal for me to ride it. The bike shop called the importer, to see what they do, and they said they just fit them with the Suzuki kit and send them out, which does restrict them, but is illegal, technically it qualifies as riding without a license. The bike shop have now stopped taking deliveries from that importer.
So my Raptor now has to be fitted with the Suzuki restrictor, taken to Bournmouth to be put on a rolling road and officially tested to confirm that it produces less than 33bhp, then registered and certified as a one-off special.
I've been waiting for it for weeks already, and now this is going to take even longer. Poo poo poo.

A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Wheeee!
Just picked up my new Raptor and I couldn't be happier with it.
It's so quick, even with the restrictor, and steers so neatly and cleanly. It's calm, comfy, looks and sounds absolutely great and I adore it.
Also, it really flatters my slightly jerky riding, it's so unintimidating, even after a year riding a mini-cruiser I have no trouble slinging it around.
Although, I did pull a muscle in my leg trying to get on it the first time, which was embarrassing.
